in JAPAN ps3 is outselling x360 10:1 actually it is like 20:1 since the ps3 costs 550 and x360 cost 250 there. in Europe the ps3 is earning an extra 100$ due to the omission of EE chip + srinking of the CELL chip (a 60$ savings there no doubt). so if you look at total revenues then ps3 is outselling everyone. In USA too MOTORSTORM has given HW sales a significant boost. Of course the big guns are yet to come

Ive invested in a PS3 and im happy i did. Call me a fanboy but i wouldnt say Sony is in a free fall. and Mridul id be considered a sony fanboy but youre insane with your manipulation based on chips and cell costs, absolutely insane. But anyway, I think based on current sales and the Euro launch, if it sells close to 1 million in the next week or so I find it hard to see hwo we can say Sonys PS3 is in a freefall. Sure, people arent eating them up like the Wii, its important to note that 600 is not an impulse buy (not saying Wii is) but its harder for people to drop 600 on anything than 400 or 250......so you can call it spin, but if we look back to the 360 launch and we see that the ps3 is selling better worldwide than the 360 i think that truly cant be ignored, especially since the PS3 has direct competition with the wii and 360. It just cant be ignored. In our "have it now" society we dont like looking at long term situations, but as long as the PS3 can simply sell mediocre and create a larger install base of BD to help its multi marketability, i think the PS3 can be fine.........just my opinion, but i remember gettingmy 360 on launch day and having it sit until oblivion came out and being pissed that there was nothing to do with my 360.....its eerily similar comparing PS3 to 360 to dat, except the PS3 is selling more even with competition....and while i wait for games as i did with my 360 i can watch BD movies which i couldnt do, all in all i think the best remedy is to just take info and discuss it rather than post about the outcomes of a launch in progress and think in terms of weeks when thsi kind of debate needs to take place over many many months.

I don't think any company will fail but I do think some won't do as good as they want. This whole "Take what we give you and be happy" thing that Sony does is over, the Playstation brand could have been legendary but they screwed up. And steverhcp02, your right for the Wii is a impulse buy for some and that helps but 600 is to much for impluse.

yes it is.. and it is a fantastic looking game. Its a GTA ripoff from the looks of it (Steal Monkey didnt really tell us a long about it but they did give us a ton of High Res pics) but it will be one of the successful ones.. it might even out do GTA at its own game.

It has to first build momentum Alacrist. Your request presents problems, as competition is certainly a barrier to building any form of momentum. 2008's exclusive portfolio seems very impressive indeed, but the developer die may be cast in 2007. All the cross-platform announcements as of late, long-time exclusives synonymous with Sony leaving the platform, (DQIX, AC6, etc.) shifting of developer platform resources to it's competitors, all these present a significant mountain of adversity to overcome. It also places even more stress on Sony's 1st party titles to perform phenomenally well market-wise. Not to mention cost of development, writing these new multi-threaded code engines which efficiently utilize the SPEs is not a cheap endeavor. In addition the competition's heavy sw competion is launching this year, & not the next.

Wow, it is thick in this thread. The PS3 has momentum... it is indicated by the "growing" amount of sales. The Wii has better momentum but that does not mean that the PS3 has none.

Sotty for the double post. But chances are there would have been "more" ports from supposed sony exlclusives in the last generation if the xbox was doing really well. It was indicated by capcom making an onimusha port and konami making an MGS port. Bottom line is money and chances are many titles will make the switch to multiplatform releases. But the real point about all of this is people are getting excited over known titles. I assure this console war will not be won by multiplatform ports. Not to mention that most exclusives were defacto sony bacause of large amount of systems sold. So as most people here would know the PS2 had a large list of exclusives. Sony has a little bit of an upperhand because of their first and second party titles. Cellius might help out a bit as well. Ports are not going to be an issue. They never have and they never will be.

Well first of all mayby I was a little bit hard on the poor PS3 but let me explain: 1, PS3 doesn't have a momentum in Japan beating xbox360 (which is DEAD, in Japan) is nothing when Wii is beating PS3 (and that is a lot) 2, Last month in USA PS3 only sold more than the xbox (origional) and GC. Even Gameboy sold more. This means that PS3 doesnt have a momentum to lose on those markets only to gain. Second: Can you show any links sources that indicates that the USA market is buying more now? Because I doubt that Motorstorm is a system seller, but I don't know. Thired looking on revenue is pointless, because PS3 is loosing money. The only consol selling with a profit is Wii.
