There is also the whole financial side of the equation that people rarely seem to pay attention to.  Sony, for example, has publicly noted that they lose money on every console they sell and with the price cut, they’re now losing even more money – so even with the PS3 in the market today at $299, you have to question if their business model is sustainable.

Interesting. He's saying they're losing more money on the Slim than before, which is probably true.

They are probably still losing money, but we don't actually know if it is more.  Depends how much they were able to cut costs with the slim.  The last time they stated they lost money was still referring to the fat model.

thats why they upgraded the ps3 hdd to 250gb to sell it at 350$ to reduce the losses.

they also did it to make consumers think they are getting a better deal, a 250gb ps3 or a 250gb 360 for $399?

I think they should have gone up to 300gigs, but hey I dont work for them

Keep telling yourselves that, Microsoft.

OKAYYYYYYY! Microsoft's word versus some guy, Microsoft a company that makes about 50 billion dollars in revenue anually versus some guy that probably doesn't even make 50 thousand dollars in a year, mmmmmm I wonder who I would bet on.

It sounds like this is a Microsoft of America rep, and is not talking about worldwide but only about NPD sales... And I expect he is right, there will be very few months in the future that the PS3 will be > 360 in NPD

Here's a tip:

The more money you make, the less valuable your word is. The more sleasy you get, and the less trustworthy you get.

Microsoft has been ripping off its customers for decades, and you expect them to stop now? come on. XBOX live is the biggest scam in the history of entertainment and you all buy right into it.

Their word is worth less than dirt.

And everyone says Sony are sooo arrogant? Hm..

I don't really think Sony is losing much on the Slim. Probably less than what they were losing per console sold before.

Please stay on topic, we are talking about Xbox 360 outselling the ps3 for the rest of this generation. I agree with microsoft, I expect this to happen as well, once again try to stay focused on the topic.

$150 Arcade in coming!

I predict $1 Arcades and $5 Elites for Black Friday. Only way they have a chance to winthis generation worldwide.

They don't need to win worldwide.  They just happy to outsell the PS3 2 to 1 in the U.S..  He is absolutely right that PS3 will be behind the 360 this gen in the U.S..

Wow thats some serious hate. Im not even going to try and argue with you. Fanboys disgust me.

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

Anyone remember Nintendo's GC attempt to win over PS2 by reducing price...this happens to bother me now.
