This morning while playing U2 single player my ps3 randomly shut down and the red light started blinking this is the second time it froze but the first time it actually shut down. It's in a cool spot has pleanty of room to breath. This has never happened before (with the red light thing), so I looked it up. Aparently I'm not alone:

People are describing having the exact same thing happen to them. The problem, which is overheating, seems to only occur during the single player campaign and from what I can tell it's not effecting the slim. All I know is that U2 is causing the PS3 to run hotter then any other game I've played with the exception of GTA4. The graphics are increadible and I'm not surprised at all that this it could be pushing the PS3 to the brink. Anyway I updated to 3.1 and then unplugged my PS3 to give it some time to cool off. I'm going to hold off on playing Uncharted 2 for a while and if I'm lucky I might be able to avoid getting YLOD until I get some more information on this issue from Sony/ND.

Which PS3 do you have?

Wow good thing I got a slim cause when I get uncharted 2 I would without a doubt push it too far.

Hmmm.....it's possible. I'm almost positive that Fable 2 killed my 360 (seriously). I never play Uncharted 2 for more than an hour or two, though.

nah it cant be tat big a problem or SONY would have said something, its just a problem with a few hundred (maybe less) systems lol

The game froze on me when i was on chapter 25 about 20 mins ago.

Meh, played it for seven hours straight last night and didn't have a problem.  I'm sure it does run hotter than some games because it is constantly streaming from disc (just like uncharted 1).

Isn't this the first big exclusive in quite a while? There have been other recent big games for the PS3, but Uncharted 2 probably has the most people playing their PS3 at the same time and some of those are bound to overheat.

Freezing could mean a bug. Resetting could mean a more serious issue. Not sure. It could be coincidence. i would try another graphic intensive game to see if it's occurring on others as well. Also, do you have the 60gb PS3?
