This is exactly why the whole DS2 business with nVidia is semi-believable. A year from now DS will be slowing down in Japan and Nintendo's main focus is it's home market, always has been.

Basically Nintendo is going to play to the Japanese market with it's next gen consoles in the hopes of continuing to grow the portable market that Japan seems to be shifting to and alsoto revitalise the console market by giving Japanese consumers something that they won't be able to get on a portable. Wii does that pretty well but obviously lately it hasn't had the desired effect.

this is not the time to be making this thread, console sales were way down YOY earlier this year, but since MH3, PS3 slim and wii price cut sales have been way up since then. Furthermore, the holidays last year were pathetic, the wii and ps3 will easily beat those numbers.

Also as i mentioned historically this week is quite good.

In regards to the handheld gaming being so popular, have you seen an apartment in Tokyo? They are seiously around 350sq ft (~100 square meters) a 42" HDTV would fill their entire living room! They don't spend all day in their houses either, there is a lot of time spent with family and friends in outside meeting places. You can't bring your PS3 along on jaunts like that. I mean there are 128 million people there, in a country smaller than the state of Texas! Space is a real issue. By the way, that 100 square meter apartment in Tokyo would cost you $750,000.

I am hoping the typhoon is the reason for the low sales.....at the least in wii's case where we were lead to believe by ioi & The source to some extent that the sales would be even higher next week.

Hey, it's Japan. Home consoles aren't that significant over there anymore.

Even the wii is less than 30k? That's surprising

so what?  Console sales are over 2x what they were last year and many of the ps2 years, the ps3 cut was a while ago now, although yeah the wii cut was last week.  It's still 2x the sales, it's not the time to be creating a thread about the doom of consoles. 

it's not as if sales went way down from last week, they held quite strong, and you still felt you had to make this thread.

so what if its 2X.......there was still a price drop 1 week ago after which ioi said in several threads wii sales will be higher next week.....that also led to a disappointment, I expected wii to be higher than last week
