Forums - Sony Discussion - How to make Resistance 3 better than R1 and R

Although I did enjoy R2, I still preferred the experience of the first one.  Technically R2 is so much better, but over the course of the whole game, it was evident that they had a tight schedule/deadline and things had to give.  I honestly feel that an extra 6 months would have made so much of a difference.

Now that Insomniac have setup a new sub studio, I hope that they can dedicate a longer development time for R3.  A 12 months development schedule along with a download R&C didn't help.  I would like to see a proper 18-24 month turnaround for the 3rd game.

Technically, it's obvious that Insomniac are really good, but they just flung too much into R2 in such a short time that the polish simply wasn't there.

So for me the priorities are:

  1. Give the game a decent and realistic schedule (18-24 months)
  2. Enhance the game engine significantly, we don't need huge battlefields and millions of enemies, I would prefer smaller, better quality, more claustrophic.
  3. Dedicate most of the development time on making a brilliant SP experience first and foremost, this is what initially sells a game
  4. Make it more like R1 than R2 IMHO.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Soooo, Resistance 1.3? How about some originality in this version and not more of the 1st game?

I think the biggest thing is more multiplayer game modes, and MORE AND BETTER maps

It was really disappointing, orick california was the only good map I liked in R2 MP. Chicago was ok too... but come on.. only 2 good maps? And lame game modes

AND LESS BULLETS TO KILL SOMEONE.... why almost a whole clip to kill?

i think for single player, they should include co-op in that too. plus, they should focus on one city. (example of "human's" last stronghold against the chimera, probably a city in latin/south america, since they were heading there at the last parts of resistance 2) they should make it gta style where u defend the whole city, and they could focus on that city and make it massive. idk. like infamous, but without the good and bad storyline. xD but anyway, co-op plus a whole massive gta type environment = full of win.

for multiplayer, more co-op play, and competitive should have more modes, and better maps. (also, reduce the number of players to 32 or something.)

And oh yeah, regular splitscreen coop in the storymode would be awesome

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Keep 8 player coop. That stuff is hella addictive.
