Forums - Gaming Discussion - Should I buy a PS3 or Wii games + PSP?

IMO anyone getting a PS3 while liking shooters should check out Super Stardust HD, an amazing game at a very cheap price. If you haven't owned a PS2 before, you may want to opt for a 80GB backwards compatible model (or 60 GB model if still available!), especially the God of War games are very impressive.

I have pre-ordered Ratchet and Clank Future and got a 512 MB R&C memory stick for free.

If you have a HDTV and are interested in high def movies or games, the PS3 is IMO by far the best choice (from a hardware specs, design and value perspecitve), especially for the long run (most impressive games, like MGS4 and Killzone 2!).

If you don't own a handheld console, the PSP seems like a nice option, there are some great games, such as Ratchet and soon a new God of War as well. I may buy one myself this christmas in addition to the Nintendo DS I already own, but mostly to share data with my PS3.

Get a second job.

Are you mocking Sony or being serious p.O (monocle man!)

Well, it sounds like the OP is on a limited budget. Too much gaming goodness out there to be monetarily constrained.

To be clear... Here in Malta when we enter Uni the government gives us a Student's Card with almost a 1000 Euros in it!!! So I want to buy the books necessary for my courase first and with the money left either a PS3 or Wii games and a PSP. So yes I am on a tight budget but at least I won't be spending 1 cent!

It is a hardcore game through and through. You will get your ass kicked by bosses. You will be stumped by the sometimes complex, but never overbearing, exploration.

Super Stardust has got to be one of the best games on the system yet, hard and addictive

Well... how long is it going to be until you have money to purchase new games?

I mean, if you're on a tight budget you may want to go with the Wii+PSP, or even just a Wii or PSP, just for the variety of games.

I mean, if i was just stuck with two games like Resistance or Motorstorm for more then like 3 weeks i'd go crazy. (By games like motorstorm and resitance i mean not RPGs/Strategy games, games who's playthrough times are huge.)

Personally I would say the games. I never saw the point in buying many systems unless you have money pouring out of your ears. It seems far better value for money to have one system and all of the good games for it rather than two systems and only some of the good games for each because you spent so much more money buying the consoles.

So you are saying it would be better to have 35 Wii and 40 DS games over, say, a Wii, a DS, a PSP, a PS3, and 8 or so great games for each?

IMO Motorstorm and Resistance have good lastability due to good online multiplay. But if you want to have a game you can play for months every evening and you like single player action RPGs, I would recommend The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition. I must have played the original version for about 50+ hours now and still there are so many quests left to accomplish. The game is not without occasional minor bugs and some rare unforgiveable (considering the hardware) framedrops, hopefully they've further polished the GOTY edition. But the game certainly is huge and sports impressive environments to explore.

I say Get Wii games now, other stuff later. I think PS3 will see another price drop or a better pack in deall/offer in the next few months. Uncharted is all hype now, wait till the verdict is in on that game. Same with Haze.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I got an Xbox360 + GOW + PGR3 + Blue Dragon just a week ago and sold them to a friend of mine just a couple of days ago. Reason? I really wanted a ton of Wii games this holiday and I'd have to split my budget in half in order to supply both machines with games. So, I'm getting around 10 games this holiday season for my Wii and then save some money and get either a PS3 or a Xbox360 later on when I have more game selection and lower prices. My opinion: Go for the games and when you save enough, get your PS3.
