Forums - Sales Discussion - PSP GO sells 8K in France WEEK 1!

The article says 8k sold to consumers, and 50k shipped to retailers.

I dont think it say shipped to retailers:

Indeed, it is not less than 8,000 machines that were passed during the first three days of marketing the PSPgo, for a total establishment of 50 000 pieces.

It sounds like 50k total for the first week of PSP Go either world wide or in Europe.

8k that can be added to the Gran Turismo PSP sales, since they got it for free with the console.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

so 50K were shipped in france & only 8K got sold?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Well if there are 50k units on the shelf with such a poor sell through rate, there will be huge discounts in the not too distant future.

"Bon départ pour la PSPgo en France"

The title of the article says " good start for the Go in FRANCE " but somehow, the hate still prevail into you guys. Wanting it or not The Go will be very successful once Sony lowers the price.

8K in France is pretty good. France isn't that big, really -- 65 million people. If you scaled France's population to the size of the US, that'd be the equivalent of about 40K US units sold. In other words, the PSP Go sold more per capita in France than it did in the US.

As I said, pretty decent numbers.

So what you are saying is... Sony are just shafting their fans, supporters and consumers as long as they can until they lower the price to something reasonable...

...and that they didn't sell it at a price that was correct, fair and reasonable but at what they could get away with for maximum profit from people they knew would buy regardless because it was a playstation product and those people are loyal and love the brand?

Talk about unrequited love.....

Not many brands have this option - to charge as they please... those that do tend to be for luxury goods. Sony are shafting their fans here.. and it stinks.

Business is about making a profit not being fair. As long as people are willing to out and buy it, what do I care. Apple, Nintendo and MS ( os, office) have always carried premium prices, why is Sony's any different.

You didn't hate on Nintendo for doing it with the Wii. You don't hate on MS for doing it with LIVE.

Why hate on Sony for doing it with the Go?
