Forums - Sales Discussion - FRANCE : The nightmare for Sony !!

Hus, are you being paid to spin this for Sony? The fact is that it would be unprecedented for an anticipated gaming produce to have people stroll in through out the day to pick up their pre-order. Now maybe France is strange, or maybe Europeans dislike using a flex day or vacation day to get a Friday off, but I highly doubt that ...

Give it til next week then we can really say if it's a failure.

I see some people are jumping the gun. There are no sales numbers and launch day is far from over. Chill out guys. Lets wait for some hard numbers to come in before declaring the PS3 Euro launch a great success, a huge failure, or just plain average.

this thread makes me nauseous...the fanboyism ugh. so much FUD and things taken out of context...

Well, not making any predictions, but what do people consider "success" and "failure?" Do you think Sony really did ship 1 million units? Would "successs" be considered selling a certain percentage of those units, or would it be just an absolute number? Consider that if PS3 sells half of the supposed 1 million units it shipped, that's a 20% increase in total sales over the course of a single day. A full sellout would mean a 40% increase. How realistic are those possibilities, though? Realize that even an abyssmal 25% launch-day sellthrough is still 250,000 units. For one day. That's how much they sold in the week and a half after launch in the US. If Sony can push over half a million units in one day, it's good news for them. Which they desperately need right now. If they sell less than 100K, they're in deep poo. Anything in between could go any way.

i don't think that sony will tell the real sales in europe ... they will sure tell a higher number than they really sold. but lets wait

In any case France seems to have been the lowest profile launch .

Obviously this post was stared by a ravid anti-sony person. Worst launch in history? Obviously this person unaware that the 360 has been performing piss poor in every European country other than the UK.
