Forums - Sales Discussion - Whats Wii's inevitable DROP-OFF going to be???????????

There may not be a drop off. As has already been mentioned this will be the first FULL week with the price drop.

Yea, that is something to think about. I haven't seen Nintendo advertise this price drop much either. I've asked many people about it and they were oblivious to it. As people start finding out, the drops that would've happened normally may be substantially lower. Just anecdotal, but I figure the overall awareness of the drop is still quite low.

It would be impressive if the sales did go up from ~340k, but if there is a drop, I'll say 262k for the week after.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

ioi said they will GO UP next week

so I PERSONALLY wouldn't expect a drop this week, NEXT WEEK is a different ball game altogether

the more interesting question is whether PS3 Hardware will go up for THIS WEEK due to the 250GB FIFA ps3

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

50% drop seems more plausible and since the wii only got a price drop I do not see how it could magically go 'up' a week later. Statistically it is near impossible, but I am open to miracles. I do believe it will go back to sub-200k weeks again starting the end of the 3rd week and rise marginally around the holiday season.

Much like the Ps3 will fall below 200k in a few weeks, and rise marginally around the holiday season.

These are the exact same comments people said about PS3, and are now saying about Wii.

ioi said both wii and psp hardware should go up, since the price cuts were only effective for 3 days, along with the psp go..

That don't make much sense?

When some games get released, let's say it has 2 days of sales for that week and it sells X amount, then week after that is always going to be lower. The first couple days is when the majority of the sales come in.

On topic, the Wii will level off around 250K, maybe even lower

But retailers have been seeing sales increase throughout the week rather than a big push on the first day. And those rules for software don't apply to Wii games it seems, or Wii hardware.

The graphs Brett has been showing show a rise in the 2nd week. Apparently that's the norm for a price-cut as word of mouth takes a while to spread.

Almost certainly a rise in America and others as has been predicted but Japan I'm not so sure about. I'll give it 50/50 odds of going up there. Overall an increase. I'll say 30-50K more overall next week. Definitely a drop off the following week though. Hard to say how big it will be.

I still believe the reason why the drop will not be the same as the ps3's is because of the pent up demand due to price, the wii has never had an issue price wise....so dropping 50 bucks will  not give the hardware a sustained increase beyond the initial boost.  That is the difference between people being wrong about the ps3.  Anyway I said nothing about the ps3 until this post so please lets continue to talk wii if you do not mind.

I'm so sick of hearing people say this. Yes, the Wii has had a price issue this past 6 months, period.
