Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why Nintendo deserves to be on top.

Nintendo don't deserve anything as far as I'm concerned. They've lost me as a customer. They do not cater to my needs. I owned a Wii, and I sold it. It looked a blurry mess on my HDTV and all the games I played felt constrained by the technology and, in general, very PS2. The Wii is an inferior console to the competition with one saving grace (as far as our household was concerned): Wii Fit; but that was not enough to keep it.

I really wanted to love the Wii, but didn't. Fortunately, I made a profit on the machine, so I'm not complaining.

I'll be waiting for an HD version before I consider buying Nintendo again. Hopefully they have a decent online service by then, and a wider range of good games.

Awww have a cry over it why dont ya

another goodie from years past.
sigh..

Nintendo has done nothing to deserve being on top.

I would've agreed when it came to last generation ...

They had everything. They had it all. Highest first party software sales, highest sold 7th gen console, their highest ever selling portable platform but now when you look at them over 6 years down the road (pun intended) all of that became an empty shell ...

The Wii was simply a casual box. 95% of people bought it for wii sports, and never used it again. Now I enjoyed some of the classics, like Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Smash, Zelda, and many more. But they've pretty much trashed 3rd parties since the N64 days, so they've had it coming.

And as stated, the Wii was a very lucky exception. Nintendo has seen decline's for every single console after the NES excluding the Wii. I hope this trend can be reversed indefinently, but we'll have to see the NX before determining that.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Wii has sold close to 1 billion units of software with an attach ratio of over 9:1. Saying 95% of people bought it for Wii Sports and nothing else couldn't be more inaccurate.
