Forums - Sales Discussion - So PSP GO! sold 80K Units (EU + NA)...Flop or HOT?!

I'm surprised people are desperate enough to cite "R&D costs" as a reason the Go might be held back from profiting. Do they even realize that the Go is nothing more than a PSP in a new package, with a couple new add-ons (+bluetooth, +16GB flash drive, +new form, -UMD, probably scaled down chips)? I sincerely doubt the R&D was very high for this PSP revision. Probably no more than the PSP-2000 was, although perhaps less than the PSP-3000.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

It's doing far to well for such an ...

Ugh... very bad numbers imo. Just 80k? That's kind of a flop, for me.

Better than expected, its definitely not a flop.
Even then some people just want it to be a flop.

That is the main problem.

Even with Sony saying it is in line with expectations, people just feel the need to hate on it.

So sony said they were expecting this kind of sales before the launch? They said they expected 80K week one on America and others (US and UK apparently)???

It's not that people hate on it.... it's that some people won't admit things like this (a console performing bad). When the ps3 came out it was obvious that it didn't sell like Sony was expecting, and people used to get mad when someone say that it (ps3) failed.

I don't think anyone can really say that 80k in US and Uk is good. Maybe it'll sell more in the long run, but the launch was bad

ioi said PSP GO hardware will likely go up for next week, due to its marketing campaign, and the fact its only 4 days of data..

in any case, expect PSP around PS3 numbers for next week. Wii may be up as welll, and the 360 idk.

PSP GO launch is japan may be crazy.
