"Loading times will bore everyone!" "Who cares about FMVs? See them once, and you're bored with them!" "People expect Final Fantasy on Nintendo's systems, they'll never buy the newcomer!" "Ewwww the 3D graphics suck!" (Personally, I can't look at FF7 anymore from a technical standpoint.)
As you can guess, I ate some industrial-strength crow after FF7 was released... |
Ahhh, I remember thinking the exact same thing. I played FFVII at an EBGames and thought there is no way anyone is going to buy that trash, the graphics were bad, it seemed like you only played maybe 1/3 of the time with the rest being FMV and load times, and the idea of a Final Fantasy not on a Nintendo console just didn't compute for me.
I wasn't the best market analyst in those days, I also thought Madden would never sell year after year with just roster updates, Mortal Kombat would do better on the SNES since the graphics were better and who wants violence anyways, and that dual analog was an idiotic contol scheme when Goldeneye/Zelda/Mario played just fine with one. My last terrible video game call was that GTAIII wouldn't sell well because who wants to run around killing cops, beating up people, and doing prostitutes? Well a heck of a lot more than I thought.
Anyways, more on topic, all I can saying to crying Sony fanboys is get used to the heartache from Nintendo fanboys. Many Nintendo fanboys are itching to repay with interest the heartache Sony fanboys have casued them for the last 12 years. The best advice I can give is do what I did late in the N64 days, grow up and get over it.
