I found the orientation of Galaxy to be disorienting and uncomfortable. Each planet is like a ball that you run around on, but the camera does not change perspective.

Graphically, this game looks good for a Wii game. The music scores are orchestrated, but uninspired. The music from the old 2D Mario games were more spirited (the most spirited songs in SMG were remixes from the older games).

If they would have just put out a straight up sequel to Mario 64 on a flat 3D plane this game would have been much better. And the use of the Wii mote in this game is almost completely pointless.

Hahaha. You didn't play the game did you? =P

The vast majority of planets are not balls.

Those really do look like the criticisms of somebody trying to judge a game purely on what he has heard.

Or based on the Zero Punctuation review.

That guy's still going? i should watch him again sometime.

Well I have been gaming since Super Mario Bros 3, have owed every major System except for the Saturn and I count this game as my Favorite Game Ever!! I loved the gameplay, greatly refined from SM64 and SMS. I beat the game with about 80 of the 120 stars and loved it so much that I decided I wanted to get every star in the game! So I went after the stars one after one, with no help from the net or a guide. Getting the final 10-20 stars is very very hard! I think they did a great job balancing the difficulty, its easy enough for a kid to beat the game, but if you really want to go all the way then it gets harder for adults like me who want a challenge. I got the 120th star and did a happy dance, Then after that it unlocked Luigi, I was in shock as i did not know that. I wrote this because im sure im under 100 posts and would like to have my vote counted.

9.9 is my score, the only con being that the co-op in the game was in my opinion dumb, compared to what it could have been, I really am looking forward to seeing how NSMBW plays.

10.

Nintendo has such a fine level of polish that no other games from any company can match. The graphics, while not in HD, are so fluid and seamless that even the biggest graphics whore has to admire them.

The music was incredible, some of the best i've ever heard in a game, and usually it matched perfectly with the level you were playing "you hear the song and you KNOW this is fire world music"

Of course the best part was the gameplay, every galaxy felt different and the controls were perfect, Mario handled be3tter than he ever has in the past, the powerups were great, the "gimmick" stages were a lot of fun, and it was easy enough for a new player to get through the game, while some galaxies were difficult enough for the veteran.

I literally have no complaints about this game.

I'd give it a 10/10. I had more fun playing that game than any game this generation, and indeed for a very long time. It brought a smile to my face like few games ever have.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Super Mario 3D Land

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

7/10

good game, but it gets dull, and some parts are irritating as hell

still tho very innovative

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

9.9 only

9.5

One of the best games i've ever played, but of course, not perfect...

My "main" issue with the game was the end battle against Bowser, too easy, and two times exactly the same (which makes four if you find 120 stars with Luigi as well)... and also, the Luigi levels being just a copy/paste of the Mario ones: Luigi looking for Luigi was kinda weird, and they could have changed some other details to make it more interesting the second round... plus a real challenge for the final star(s)...

Otherwise, fantastic game, an all-time classic...

Stop complaining about low scores. You don't go complaining to metacritic "You are counting this website and it only gave this amazing game a 3!" do you? You know some websites are full of crap too.

Sorry, but the rules say you don't get to vote if you haven't played enough, and his complaints suggest that he fails to qualify under that criteria.

9.9

Starts off a little easy, but really picks up after a few worlds! Everything about the game is great from the pacing, to the graphics, to the presentation. I loved every minutes of the game and it is probably my favorite game of this generation! I would have loved a few more levels, but luckily SMG2 will help us out on that one!!

9.5/10
I pretty much liked everything except the camera sometimes and difficulty (aside from couple of levels, it was too easy).
