Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft: Natal may cost you

So Natal will not be cheap because long before release sayings of: It may cost you are by far from positive signs..

I thought NATAL could only be a succes if it goes to mass market price quick (= under 75 dollars not counting the Xbox)

Here is the interesting bit from that article

Start saving now for Project Natal. Bach says the new control peripheral for the Xbox 360 will mirror that of the console itself – start high, then slowly work its way down. “Relative to Natal, we’ll see how the pricing cost works out,” he said. “But people should except that it will go through the usual price curve.”

Sounds expensive from that, but we'll see. Also IGN covered this for those wondering about the reliability of this random source.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

It doesn't say it will be expensive, just that it will get cheaper over time. Although I'd say about £150

Also, is except a mis-spelling of accept or expect?

well, the fact that the WiFi is $100 makes me think that Natal will be much more expensive especially after the statement above. I have no interest in Natal as I don't have an X360, but I would hope for their own sake they don't price it over $100.

And Microsoft just killed Natal's chance for proper adoption. Unless this gen is a long one, NATAL could be very expensive till the end of this gen and that will kill it's chances

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Natal over 150 quid? God I hope your not seriously combining that price and the thought it will not be expensive.. thats ridicilous, 150 quid would make sure NATAL would NOT sell any Xbox 360s to casuals..

Bundle it with a Halo game, a GoW game, or even something akin to the demo at TGS. It will sell like hotcakes. Apparently you've missed the Motion Control party rules. People will pay if the hype train is right.

The $600 price tag on the PS3 at launch killed the hype train extremely fast and it didn't sell like hotcakes.

Dorbin if they bundle it with a Halo game everyone will just buy the loose halo game and GoW is not a seller to casuals (and neither is Halo this gen, as everyone who wants Halo really badly already got a Xbox 360 by now)

As an ailing fat man once said, " it may cost you a little, it may cost you a lot, but it WILL cost you". It really doesn't matter if natal cost 100 or even 200 dollars, the only thing that matters is marketing. If Natal comes bundled with an amazing game that millions of people are interested in, greatly enjoy playing and soon become very addicted to, it'll be an instant success. MS could market it the same way they did Rockband ; buy this awesome game, which comes with all these useful expensive accessories. I never thought someone would actually pay $170 for one game and a set of peripherals that can only be used with that type of game, but millions of consumers disagree. If both avid and casual gamers are willing to spend that much money on one genre of gaming, why would they mind spending that same amount on a device which could be used for several different types of games ( and at some point social networking) (MS's version of home)
