That would not be 2 cars and a motorcycle put together.  That would be two engines put together inside one car.  Engine != car.  Pretty simple concept.  Should I make a picture for you.  Maybe a little pop up book to help explain.

Lenses != camera.

Natal are a couple of lenses put together inside one camera.

Natal is a camera.

Oh lord.  It has two seperate cameras, not two seperate lenses.  1 camera captures RGB signals.  The other captures infrared signals.  There is also an infrared generator that sends out pulses of infrared.  So both of these cameras require different sensors, so, no they are not just two lenses.  They are two seperate cameras.

Mmm not so much here, I just don't see myself playing too much with it, it seems like a great new technology, not so much a great new gaming peripheric (I hope I'm wrong though)
I played a lot of wii, and ultimately got tired of it (it was like: instead of A waggle horizontally, instead of B waggle vertically, instead of C shake, sorry, no more actions), this seems like it will be the same probably, i just don't see gaming without controls at all (at least until something like this http://gpmgroup.info/2007/11/25/epoc-mind-reading-helmet/ ),
There are too many actions to perform.. i don't know, as a recent xbox owner i really hope i'm wrong but i really don't see it

Listen to the voice of reason, then do as I say.

Jaggedsac is 100% correct, however, there is a type of camera that has two lenses in it. These are called TLRs as opposed to single lens SLRs, and have the advantage of being quieter and having reduce shutter lag, due to having 1 less moving part. However, in this camera the light travels through both lenses before hitting the photosensitive area

Are you guys seriously arguing over whether this camera is a double camera, triple camera, super camera, or camera with a computer and mic inside it? Because those are all cameras. Natal is a device that creates digital information from light and sends it to a computer. It's a camera.

What a weird argument.

When you play video games that have guns that shoot multiple types of ammo, do you call them guns or make up some stupid name for them?

I'm excited about the technology, but it's hard to be excited about the system itself, without seeing how it can be applied. If this can do Tom-Cruise-in-Minority-Report, then yes, I think it's going to be a radical impact on adption, but if it is just another camera toy, I don't have high expectations. With that said, I think M$ is going to push Natal VERY HARD...this system is going to be fully integrated in the next console, if not a re-launched 360, and from day one will be supported.

I'm excited to see what kind of game Milo will be used in. I think that project has a lot of potential.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Milo should have some sort of split personality disorder, and you should be trying to give him therapy. You have to keep him calm and ask him the right questions so he doesn't go into the bad place and hear the wrong voices. If you get too angry with him he starts banging his head against the floor and you lose your job.

Im excited, i really believe it will give a great hardware boost.

There are several cool things that Natal has going for it that sticks it out from the crowd.

1. One device allows for at least 4 players to play. No need for controllers for each person.

2. 1:1 space mapping. Move forward and to the left 1 foot in real life, your in game character matches the movement. This can be applied to many sports, dodgeball being one I would most like to see created. This is also unique with Natal as it can map you legs and feet so environmental hazards can be created that must be avoided by stepping or hopping over them.

3. 48 points skeletal system. Arms, legs, hands, feet, head, neck, all of them are tracked for each player. This allows for some interesting gameplay. Catch a ball, kick a ball, head butt a ball, butt hit a ball, no need for relying on balance peripherals to guess where the head is. It is where it is.

4. Vocal recognition out of the box. If Natal is there, developers know that this capability is there. Vocal recognition is not new, but having it standard and universal is a major thing. No need for an internet connection to download a patch to allow for this functionality. They also will have an SDK for this so no need to either develop the software or purchase third party software. Having a universal and standard system for vocal recognition makes it easier and more likely for developers to utilize it. Even if only playing with the controller games can make use of this.

5. Facial recognition. Same reasons as vocal recognition.

If I think of more, I will post them.

As far as 360 sales go due to Natal, I could care less as long as the hardware gets support.

Forgot to add that it takes care of all the processing on the Natal hardware.  Developers can use it just like controller output.  This is pretty big as the 360 hardware can focus on other things.

I want to see review on this thing first, as I'm very skeptical on its accurracy. You know all developer make the commercial looks flawlessly.
