Hey

I was just thinking about people who write video game reviews as a living and was wondering if anyone here is actually looking to do it as a career. Personally I'm in the process of making my own video game site and enjoy giving my opinion on games and discussing all things gaming. Is there anyone else with similar plans or just want to give there two cents woth.

I write reviews for this website as a hobby. I do it for the love of games and not for any personal gain.

Nice very detailed reviews. I'm a IT person at heart so managing my own site just seemed like a good fit and I needed something to put on that site.

I use to write reviews for games like 5 years ago and was offered a paid job to review DVDs for a site. Unfortunately the site collapsed just as I was going to start reviewing so thus ended my career as a critic before it began!

That really sucks dude. I don't have much experience in writing reviews but I can make a pretty good website. I think I will write some reviews for this site if people want to read them lol.

My advice? Write what people want to hear 90% of the time... and what they don't want to hear 10% of the time.

Unlike movies or books or any other form of creation there seems to be no real critical framework for video game reviews... so pretty much anything goes and nobody can call you out on it.

That 10% of the time you disagree will be what give you your hits... and the 90% will be what let you survive those hits without most people writing you off.

Wise words indeed. I feel like such a noob now lol. I have created my own blog recently and just written up a review on braid for PC. If anyone wants to check it out and make a comment I would appreciate it.
