LOL..sony is happy with the results...or so we are lead to believe, and that's what matters. BTW, has anybody here actually bought the thing, and took it for a spin?

I got one.  Its awesome.

I used to carry a bag around with my PSP-2000, and several UMD games (and some other junk).  Now I can ditch the man-purse, and have everything in my pocket.  Big win in my book.

It feels more comfortable to use as well.  Was worth it to me.

I bought it too and think it's amazing. The small size is a huge bonus.

if this isn't a flop I don't know what is. Seriously What if the ps3 slim only increased sales 30k? You would call it a flop in a heartbeat. Another thing to consider is this is almost like a brand new handheld because it is not backwards compatible. The adoption rate needs to be higher then a mere 30k. When you look at marketing, manufacturing, R&d, distribution, other costs associated with developing a handheld I bet you sony is kicking themselves straight in the nuts. Thats an honest truth.

Didnt read all the post but the first week was Thursday Oct 1st to Friday Oct 2nd? ...2 days the PSP Go alone sold 30k? or am i reading it all wrong?

Well, I guess you feel that's the honest truth, but I disagree with you.

The Go is an alternative model designed to co-exist with existing models and targeting a niche audience - those that want a small handheld with a digital only sales channel.  It has a price aligned with that and Sony indicated repeatedly they were foreseeing only early adopters as initial purchasers - i.e. only a small number.

The Slim is the latest model of something with a reduced price, replacing the existing models and targeting an established audience with a design/price designed to appeal to an even larger audience.  To compare the two launches at all is simply a mistake - but an obvious one I'll grant you that many people are making.

The Slim is mainstream, the Go niche, with the PSP-3000 the intended model of choice for the mainstream.  The difference in the two launches is obvious.

Why can't everyone just look at the clear facts of the situation and understand this?

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

If the DSi has sold this poorly people would be calling it a huge flop, you know it, I know it, the American people know it.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Grimes, my friend, this one's for you:

"In the three days since its October 1 launch, Sony's PSP Go boosted U.S. PSP platform sales 300 percent week over week, Sony Computer Entertainment America tells Gamasutra.

"The launch of PSP Go has generated strong consumer interest in the overall PSP platform and the PlayStation Network's digital content offering," says SCEA corporate communications director Patrick Seybold.

SCEA also tells us the launch of the PSP Go has generated a "significant increase" in North American PlayStation Network revenue -- the company tells us PSP game downloads purchased from the PlayStation Store are up 200 percent in the region."

Week over week is they key phrase. For all we know the previous week's sales were awful. We've seen this game before, percentages are meaningless without context.

According to VGChartz figures, PSP sold 30,000 before Go's launch. Now with 300% increase (boost), how much did it sell last week?

Three days, not a week, read the article.

They specifically mentioned it was week over week.
