Unless I miscounted, Nintendo platforms have 45 out of the top 50 selling games in Japan. Thats just plain crazy. Thats 90% of the list. Even if you take the DS out of the equation. The Wii has 7 games to the 5 games of the PS2,PSP, and PS3. I mean wow....just WOW. DS 38 games Wii 7 games PS2 3 games PSP 1 game PS3 1 game

I guess you have to ask yourself this question then: How come practically none of the 2 million Wii owners in Japan are buying any Wii games?

None? I think Darc Requiem just pointed out that 7 Wii games in the top 50? That is more than PS2, PS3 and PSP combined. Of course Wii is destroyed by DS. But every one is that.

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

Look at the software to hardware tie ratios though. The Wii is at 2.215 games/console according to this website PS3 is just over 1 game/console DS is just about 4 games/console Even PS2 is only around 5 games/console I think for 2/3 of all users buy Wii Sports, Wii Play, and then about 20% of those people buy a third game - either Warioware, Fire Emblem, Zelda, Dragon Ball, etc The other 1/3 of all users bought traditional games (Zelda, Fire Emblem, virtual console stuff), then supplemented it with one of the Wii's insane party games. Once PS3 games start reaching 300,000 in Japan, I think Sony will feel alot better...but since no game is reaching 30% of the audience yet, it probably won't happen for a while yet (maybe Gundam can do it within a month?).

Nintendo rules Japan right now. Eventually I do believe it'll come down to a two way horserace between the Wii and PS3, but that's not going to happen until games like Gran Turismo HD and Final Fantasy XIII come out.

Yes, and with 65,000 or so Wiis sold in the same week, let's assume that everyone that bought a Wii also bought just one game with it. That leaves about 60,000 games sold that were purchased by existing Wii owners (I'm being generous here). 60,000, out of a userbase close to 2,000,000. That is something worth thinking about.

Sorry, but I just can't help but laugh at this. Aside from the fact that your figures are incorrect, I find it amusing to see a thread on this same page predicting that Sonic and the Secret Rings is going to sell 90,000 copies in the first week on sale, yet after it turns out that the game has bombed, you claim that there were no significant releases at all!!

Yes, and 15,000 PS2 systems were sold the same week, assuming 1 game sold per system that leaves 60,000 games being sold from a userbase of 22 Million ... The week to week sales are not that important, what is important is the number of copies of big named games that are sold ...

no my figures are not incorrect at least according to mediacreate. Last week Wii sold 44k, this week 67k = difference of 23k. No there were no significant releases, and no Sonic is not a significant release in Japan and i never claimed it was. There was a game released last week Eyeshield that sold the same amount as sonic if it makes you feel better.

I'll let you off on the figures then. You didn't quote your source at first. Still, comparing Eyeshield to Sonic and the Secret Rings? Sorry, but I'm not going to let you off on that. I didn't see anyone predicting Sonic was going to sell 10,000 copies in that Sonic thread... But hey, it isn't a major release, and we only need to judge the Wii on major releases!
