Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Why did I buy the Xbox 360 again?

In april 2008 I bought a Xbox 360. The main reason why I chose the 360 was because of the price, at the time it was €130 cheaper (the pro model) than the PS3 and there were about the same amount of exclusives for both consoles appealing to me. But after having a lot of fun with it, I came to the conclusion that 360 wasn't cheaper (Xbox Live) and some of the (for me) interesting exclusives were not so exclusive after all (Bioshock, Ninja Gaiden II and probably GTA IV DLC). There are 3 exclusive 360 games that I really (or probably) like (GeoW 1&2, Crackdown2) and 6 PS3 exclusive games (GoW3, Infamous, Uncharted 1 & 2, Last Guardian, LBP).... So what am I doing with a 360 again? Can anyone tell me what the future is holding for my kind of taste with a 360?

I know there is Left 4 Dead, Halo, Fable and Splinter Cell which are nice.... but not really my cup of tea.

Keep your X360 and buy yourself a PS3.

But if money is a problem, trade in your 360 an get the PS3.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future

Honestly if you're not satisfied with your current system you should get the one that you really want. Maybe hold onto the 360 if you can in case there comes an exclusive that really appeals to you before you shoot yourself in the foot for trading it in to get a PS3.

Ugh, you tell us? There must have been a reason you bought it .. this just stinks of stealth trolling ...

Wheeeeee!! Trolling by stealth is neat!

Conditions in 2008 were different from what they are in 2009. Said so yourself - you might have taken the right decision at that time.

Grass is always greener on the other side, maybe?

I don't think you are giving the Xbox 360 a proper chance. Those are a ton of games to enjoy.

Honestly I think you're just growing up and not getting hyped for games as much anymore (even for PS3 you're hyped for only 6 and some of those aren't even out yet). It's natural when you get older. You get overloaded with all this hype and all these titles that you just don't really care about particular games anymore. If I bought a system to play every game that seemed interesting, I'd have to divide my shrinking gaming time between 6 different platforms this generation (3 home consoles, 2 portables and PC). No point in getting all that stuff so that they could collect dust. Only way I can pull off playing all that is if I was a hikkimori. There's a lot of good stuff out there that nothing in particular really hypes me up. A console's overall software library matters more than hype.

Awesome. You just spelled it right out for me. I feel the same way too.

It is better to die on one's feet

then live on one's knees

All I can say is that I know why I bought mine! And it's still the most played console in my house, by far.
