Forums - Gaming Discussion - New Final Fantasy? (Not XIII)

there's definitely a lot of good RPGs on the PS2, but I can't think of one from Square without Final Fantasy in the title like the PS1 days. On PS2, I'm a huge fan of the Suikoden series, Star Ocean, the original Xenosaga. Square obviously has some talented developers, which is why i think it'd be awesome if they created a new IP.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Around the Network

i was never too big on the FF games, but then i got III for the DS and it was amazing. id say one of the best, if not the best, game for the DS. although i have never played any other FF game before, so i cant really judge too well. how come every FF game is always exclusive to 1 gaming platform? you have to buy all the handhelds and consoles (except microsoft stuff) to play them all.

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.

Radiata stories and the saga series are the first that come to mind. I am pretty sure there are more but I try to purchase games based on how well they seem to stand on their own first and then company second. The only exception to my rule is the final fantasy series because I have enjoyed, pretty much, all of them. And don't you mean xenogears? Xenosaga is from the same creator but square owned some of the rights so xenosaga and xenogears are similar but not really related, which makes me sad because I loved the original xenogears alot.
