Forums - Gaming Discussion - Screenshot Comparison: Uncharted 2 vs. Crysis

These pictures don't take into account the relative size of the areas in the games - isn't Crysis a much more open world?
That being still, Uncharted 2 does look REALLY good by itself.

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.

There's actually a considerable amount of "cheating" done in Crysis as is the case in virtually all games.

There is a definite proximity field in terms of what gets rendered fully and to varying degrees as well as a proximity field that defines AI interactions and reactions. It just happens to be broad enough in Crysis that it maintains the illusion of encompassing the entire environment/level.

If you rush through the game (easy with "maximum speed" on) it's easy to see the texture and resource streaming in action along with the pop ins and everything that streamed resources entail. It's actually a lot more noticeable in Warhead.

Don't get me wrong, Uncharted 2 should be a great game and it looks amazing, but compared to Crysis I think it looks rather horrible. The only picture that stood up against Crysis semi-well was the one inside the tomb by the god-like statue.

Crysis definitely looks better, but not by much. I also question if I'd notice at all if I saw them in motion rather than still shots. Regardless, they're both impressive looking.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

the graphics on uncharted 2 are great, but I don't think they can even be compared with crysis because crysis wants to look like the real stuff, and U2 is cartoonish, it has a great art direction though , but all I say is that both games search for different goals, U2 doesn't try to look real. and in gameplay I bet that U2 will be a better experience. :P

explain the u2 bullshots why were they taken at that high res

Repent or be destroyed

Great comparisons. Crisis stomps Uncharted 2 grafix. I'm almost a lil disappointed that the difference is so big, cause I don't like Crisis very much and I hate when people bring up the Crisis card against console grafix.

Crysis wins hands down. Thick vegatation is SO much harder to render than flat surfaces and crysis takes place in the jungle!

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

What makes Crysis amazing is that it was released in 2007!

Once console fanboys get Gran Turismo 5, they'll have a game to point to that looks, well, imo closer to RL than does Crysis.

Why?

Because that's what the developers were willing to put into the title.

U2 could be the best looking game so far on consoles.

Take a look at the trees in GT5. In graphics department Crysis is primus inter pares- not any console game is going to match Crysis' graphics this generation in terms of beeing realistic. Anyhow i prefer to play on consoles.
