1,561,553 First week. 2nd Week 192,730. LTD 2.41M

Being as this is the 2nd FF on the consoel and the size of the install base the is no reason for me to do % of first week sales because it will be skewed

Being as this is the 3rd FF on the console and the size of the install base the is no reason for me to do the % of first week sales because it will skew the data.

Resident Evil 5

6th March 2009

1st week 323,228. 2nd week 60,755. ltd 0.49M and still selling

Resident Evil 5 has outsold resident Evil 4 LTD within a few weeks. Yakuza 3 has seen a huge jump from Yakuza 1 when its comes to first week sales. Like 170K more. MGS2 sold to 13.9% of the install base first week. Whilst MGS4 sold to 22.55% of the install base. This goes to show that games can stil sell just as well as the ps2 version if not better at a faster rate and grab a higher % of the install base.

As you can see these old franchises are more front loaded on the PS3 outdoing the PS2 versions first week and thats with a smaller install base. So a higher % of the install base are buying the games first week.

If lets say the ps3 is at 3,900,000 in Japan by FF 13 release. And it sells the same % of the install base on the first week as previous games in the series. Then this game will do 1.50M first week.

But being as the PS3 is sells games at a faster rate for the first week then the PS2 did then that number could be even higher. Say around 2mil high. Which will be around 51% Of the user base.assuming the ps3 is at 1.90M

These figures i have stated are not includng the hardware bump the PS3 will get on the release date so keep that into account. I also think the PS3 will be above 3,900,000 by the time FF13 releases but thats for another thread ;)

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Why does everyone choose to ignore Famitsu? You guys think the guys at Famitsu who are almost always accurate with their predictions (or aren't too far off) will be off by 600k or more?

Because pass trends say so ;)

Famitsu are also using trends and preorder data and other factors.

Well they must be using different data to every other living person in history then.

How can FF13 not at least sell to 40% of the install base?

I thought that Famitsu numbers were most likely pre-slim release data? Correct me if I'm wrong.

The same data that they use to make really accurate predictions.

I think some people will be disappointed in final FF XIII sales in JP, tbh...

Oh right. So what are you expecting from FF anyway. The same as Famitsu or

1.5 sounds reasonable. It's massively supported, the trailer was just epic, and it seems to have the element that was missing from XII
