Forums - Sony Discussion - I've just got a new HDD for my PS3

So, I got sick of running out of space on my 60GB HDD, so I went for a nice 320GB one from amazon for £40.

Now, what is the best way of transferring my stuff? Do I do a back up onto an external HDD, then restore the PS3 using that back up. Do I need to copy over my saves seperately?

Thanks for any help

Backup and Restore to an external drive is your best option. Be sure to clean up your old drive by deleting unwanted content/saves before you do it. The process can take a while.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

oh man , ive been waiting to do this for ages, let me know how it goes!

I'll be doing it tomorrow evening, I just need to get it done before FIFA 10 comes this week

I have been trying to clean up my HDD, but I haven't had much success!

Backup and Restore, i have also a 60 GB and i ran out of space last year, so i upgraded to a 250 GB, i'm thinking now to put a 500 GB and slam the 250 into my work PC that already has a 500 GB and the old 60 GB from the PS3, that's the advantage of having a system that uses standard HDDs, i can put those on PCs and laptops...

I've been thinking about changing my HDD on my PS3 for ages now, but I got some questions, maybe you guys could help me out.

If I bought PSN games, can they be transfered to the new HDD or will I lose them. Same thing with the demos I downloaded.
Will I be able to restore my HDD on the new one so it is the content is the same as the old one (but with more space of course...)

Thanks!

nice congrats on ur upgrade =) hope it works smoothly..i never tried it before lol

I've been struggling for the past 4 months+ to keep 8GB's free on my PS3's HDD...

will it also keep the trophies? Or are trophies on a server linked to our accounts?
