Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Next Gears of War to be on a next-gen console

From Eurogamer:

Capps' comments came in a Q&A session following his speech at the Tokyo Game Show. He began by confirming that Epic has been working on Unreal Engine 4 for the past seven years in preparation for the next hardware generation.

"We're very concerned that the next generation will be massively parallel and most engines won't be able to adapt for that," said Capps.

"If there were a next Gears of War, that will be for the next console generation, whenever that is. If someone knows, please tell me! That's about four or five years away, I think."

Uh-oh...

ooO thats suprising...
So, we have to wait 3-5 years or?

Take my love, take my land..

I doubt it. Gears 3 will sell millions. They will want it out sooner rather then later.

PS3 Trophies

I can understand pushing it off. Everybody will be playing Halo: Reach at the end of next year.

Maybe it'll be lined up as a 720 launch title or something.

I hope this doesn't mean that the next generation will be here too soon. This one has only really just started.

Annoyingly, Eurogamer have ambiguously titled the article "on next-gen consoles" which suggests that it will be multiplatform and will fuel a "Gears to Playstation!!!" bandwagon.

Obviously it could be multiplatform (though I'm sure MS will secure exclusivity), but Capps' actual words were, while not explicitly "exclusive", also not explicitly "multiplatform".

Well, the guy who made the comment says he doesn't think the next gen will begin for another 4-5 years.

He said "next console generation". That could mean anything.

Ah okay, thank you, I must have missed that part.
