Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pachter : MS Buying EA Makes NO SENSE (Is the fabled analyst correct?)

But, but... Pachter can't be right...

I don't think this rumor is true either, MS strategy has been about working with third and second party developers as independent parties purchasing EA would go directly against that current business strategy.

However I do find it interesting that some have stated the liscensing of various sports franchises would be null and void if EA were purchsed. This is likely not true and that any purchase of EA would include those liscnesing agreements, so I guess we could say that is where patcher is wrong.

buying it set to kill it. kinda what they do but only to small companies.

by buying EA , EA won't be able to sustatin without FIFA sales on a console only.

then on other hand they would dry a good part ps3 software line up.

You all are too funny.

You DO realize if this happens, it won't matter about the money EA will lose without the PS3 crowd. MS will be financially responsible for EA and its debts. That said - EA would continue to churn out games, but not to any direct competitor of the 360. What does that mean? If you want to play FIFA, Madden, Tiger Woods or SKATE, you'll have to buy a 360 or wait for the Sony version. That's it. Are you really believing MS would be *smart* that they'd keep making games for a direct competitor? Please - if you believe this is the case, please post a link.

What, son, what? New York, New York!!!

Pachter has a good point, it really doesn't make any sense.

Microsoft would lose exclusive sports licenses, but gain a massive set of development teams.

Hmmmm..... It would be VERY bas for Sony if Microsoft bought EA. Currently the value of the company is at 6 billion dollars. Microsoft could easily pay that price. I can see them do it, afterall, they have stuck with the Xbox brand which doesn't make money (it's lost them over 7 billion).
