The real issue I see here is that by dropping so many titles into Q1 2010, they've now created an unhealthy sales atmosphere, especially with all of the other titles pegged for that timeframe. Honestly, at the best I say late summer. There's just too much in the pipeline. I would have went with MAG, but with a beta out already, I don't see it dropping past Q1. It obviously won't be GOW3 since it always drops in March. GT5 dropping to next fall would just be too much of a tragedy to actually happen, and if it releases in Japan in March, it'll be far too big of a release gap. I did forget White Knight Chronicles, but now thinking about it, I think it's the type of game Sony will release to little fanefare and attention. It could come out whenever because it won't choke the marketing time of other games. Out of all, I'd say Heavy Rain has the most potential to fall way out of Q1 because it's ambitious in it's storytelling, graphics heavy and might require polishing. Sony would likely give them the time to do what they needed with the game with so many other titles bunched up and needing to be spread out.

I mean what does Sony have for next fall anyways? (Honest question, because I don't know).


As far as next fall,  probably Resistance 3 or whatever else Insomniac is working on.   Final Fantasy XIV is a summer game right?   Agent, Final Fantasy VS XIII and  The Last Gaurdian are all possibilities.  Other than that I dont know

Yup, but think about the games there and the tendencies of Sony's fall lineups and those of Square-Enix. Are we really relying on FF Versus XIII and FF XIV to both come out next year, or is it going to be more of the same we've seen from them in the past? I just know every year, a decent portion of Sony's fall lineup will drop into the following year, and with highlighted titles from SE in the bunch, I don't see that changing any time soon. All I'm saying is, don't expect those titles to all show up next fall.

It could be like what Sony did with Resistance 2 and Killzone 2. Release R2 in Nov. 08 and then intentionally delay KZ2 until early 09, so they wouldn't compete against each other. Now it's happening again with GT PSP and GT5, possibly?

Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 are on the same machine. The two Gran Turismos are on different machines. To help sell my point, Sony had no problem releasing Killzone 2 and Resistance: Retribution 3 weeks apart.

Although those games are different franchises even though they are in the same genre(fps). The GT games are the exact same franchise and in the same genre. Racing fans might be willing to splurge a bit to pick up GT PSP while they wait for GT5, but if they were released in the same time frame (a few weeks apart) I'm sure many would be willing to forgo one of the versions in favor of the other one. (in this case most likely forgoing GT PSP in favor of GT5 as that is the more hyped up title, IMO)

If I had a PS3 then I would definitely be willing to pass on GT PSP in favor of GT5. Though since I have a PSP and a 360, I'm passing on GT PSP for Forza 3.

@bolded: The Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 argument was yours, not mine. I just commented on it.

GT5 would have moved hardware during Christmas but then again it will move systems during any time of the year. Yamauchi wears the pants in the relationship and Sony let him do what he wants to do. Who knows maybe Sony pushed Yamauchi, he released GT5:P, it sold more than any other first or second party PS3 title and bang Sony shut up again. It's very hard to argue with the man who runs the biggest franchise Sony has.

I'm sure Sony would like this game out quickly but again what Yamauchi says goes. People over at GTPlanet and other forums are butthurt but at the end of the day most will still buy the game when it releases.

That said I have no idea why people are worrying about GT5 sales. It's a monster franchise and you will see games being pushed back so they do not have to compete with the game not the other way round. Sales wise I am willing to perma-ban bet anyone that GT5 will beat whatever sales Forza 3 has reached by the release of GT5 in 2 weeks.

Forget about sales age the game looks so so SO good!

I can't believe it's being delayed, this is outrageous! Forza 3 is gonna release this year!
I bet they have been sitting on their fat asses all this time.

It just seem's some people are in such a hurry to start a new generation when this generation has pretty much started

this is not like last generation, the machines this generation will be able to handle quite a bit more than the prev. generation over time with out the software looking dated.

final fantasy: 13

little big planet

have the quality that they are in game's for game console's I just do not see how some gamer's are in such a hurry to start yet another generation. 

An i can See sony,microsoft,nintendo are also not in such a hurry to start a new generation.

So why are some gamer's?

Yeah, but this is one of the lamest excuses I've read: "All because it's releasing in March 2010". Be happy it actually got a release date! And PS3 has a great line-up for the holidays.

 

As for this gen coming to an end soon, I don't see it happening.

People are not happy, that GT5 won`t be rushed for Christmas, but will be polished to perfection for March 2010???
Are you gamers or what?

Gran Turismo sales? Both GT3 and GT4 came not during Christmas, and sold what? Above 10 mln. each.

PS3 already cost 299$. So anyone, who wants GT5 now will buy affordable PS3, unless they want GT5 bundle, then they might wait.

And Forza? Let`s see sales, then speak about competition.

There was many site saying GT5 is coming 2009. Even Nordisk Film (importer of Ps3) said that its coming 2009 in Finland.

For real, I don't care Gran Turismo at all.And I don't mind that much that games move up for 6 or 1 year.I
The main point is PS3 holiday lineup.Not PS3 2009 lineup.

Why would customers buy Ps3 now, since most of games released are multiplat and are on cheaper XBox 360. And since 2010 is year when almost all big titles are coming to Ps3,they can wait.
I don't know how well Uncharted 2, hits for those who don't know how great it is.
Then again, yes PS3 Slim can be enough for this holiday but I doupt it.

And its gonna be very big Q1 with God of wars and Mags..So they have to move games to Q2-Q4.
So with "luck" GT5 is coming on october 2010. Or FF XIII is coming Q4 2010.And then they have to move FF XIV prolly to 2011.Anyway, some game that customers want will be delayed.

I just remember last year. I remember how big would Killzone 2 be in 2008 holidays.But they brought Resistance 2 which was unfinished dissapoint.LBP didin't become that huge.Motorstorm 2 had very dissapointing sales.Microsoft and Nintendo dominated fully with great strategy.

Their holiday season is still going to be pretty good. The finally drop the price of all of their models which will increase their sales this holiday season. This holiday season we have games like Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack In Time, Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2 and some other huge titles.
