Forums - Sony Discussion - Since no GT5:Sony again messed up Ps3 holidays!

Sony is already going to struggle to meet demand for the PS3.

It is not logical to make that situation worse. Wait til you can better cover demand.

Also people can say what they want about Halo: Reach's 60 dollar beta code.....I mean Halo 3's 60 dollar expansion. But that's the biggest pile of pr bs I've seen in a while.

If you've held out on buying a PS3 for only GT5, then you're a moron. If you think Sony has "lost" this holiday season. Then there isn't a word to describe how low your intelligence is. As far as I know all we have is Japanese release date for it. It may release a little bit earlier in Europe and NA. Final Fantasy 13 won't release in March. I think that will be early summer.

Sony, you are a bunch of morons, way to fuck up this holiday season

can I ask you have you ever worked in the electronic game industry?

because many thing's can and will go wrong you can count on it.

Murphy's law

http://www.murphys-laws.com/

No I have never worked in the electronic game industry,  but what does that have to do with Sony dropping the ball on it #1 exclusive?  They fucked up, they release Gran Turismo 5 this holiday and the only problem they would be having would be meeting demand for the PS3.

Well I say to you its very easy to blame someone without knowing all the facts. DROP THE BALL!

DROP THE BALL..YOU SAY, THATS FUNNY.

#1 EXCLUSIVE please!

One game does not make or break a system, the xbox360 is not just a HALO machine but the way some people act like it is

IT's not. and the PS3 is not just a GT machine . Its about the whole catalog of software One game is just that One game among what will be 1000's over the next few year's.

Patience is a virtue because it makes us better people. The definition of the word is to tolerate delay. This implies self control and forbearance as opposed to wanting what we want when we want it. How many times have we jumped the gun and found out it would have been better to tolerate delay or had self control? What did we miss out on? Did we hurt someone we love because of lack of patience? Having patience will heal the wounds and it will work itself out fine. Patience is not only a virtue but a necessity for a happy existence.

there are other game's to play

Yeah DROP THE BALL, thats what Sony did.   And if you dont think that Gran Turismo is Sony's #1 exclusive game then you even less about the video game industry then I do.    Well I do believe the Xbox 360 is a Halo machine,  without that game the Xbox brand would have dissappeared.   Its the reason I bought both my Xbox and 360.   And while the PS3 may not be a GT machine, to not have its #1 exclusive title come out within its first 3 years of being on the market is Sony fucking up.

You are correct patience is a virtue,  but patience stops after 3 years of empty promises.  I dont know what the rest of that crap you are writing about, its not like I am going to go kill someone cause I am not going to get to play GT5.   But I can and will ignore it when it comes out.

see that is the problem...you did not even ask me if i worked in the game industry, you just stated what you did as Im right and your wrong, and Sony's #1 exclusive..is the catalog of  playstation  games  as a whole, that's the number one Exclusive, why because no one game is worth the whole catalog.

as for saying to have it's #1 exclusive to not come out within 3 year's on the market is Sony fucking up. for one you should not be comparing prev. generation's to this one because for one the PS3 is not the PS2 or the PS1. Its the PS3 it has very high end hardware, that developer's are able to get quite a bit of fantastic results from, same with the xbox360. but it take's time because of the number of open ended thing's you can do with the hardware this generation. An if that means the developer may need more time to implement said function's in the game to make the gamer's experience better in their Opinion, I say its great.

"you can please some of the people some of the time, but you cannot please everyone all of the time"

Playstation does not revolve around just one game it revolve's around many game's.

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!! Are you seriously going to start a thread about Sony losing this holiday season because GT5 is set for March next year in Japan. Please STHU!!!

It's not the harsh word's I would use, but yea it is getting kind of silly:

IT's about the whole game catalog, not just ONE game.

Some people think its about one single game or a system will fail...god if that was the case why make more than just one game!.

No one game need's to save the PS3!

its already saved, an for me I would rather have NEW IP's than a tried an true game in its 5th version.

To me it's getting kind of stale. after the 3rd to me it's getting kind of redundant. Im not much into racing sim's as much as other people are I guess, but To me it seem's that many people think Sony's whole future hangs on just one game. and it has been like this since the system launched.

its about the long haul not the short term.

Why is patience a virtue?

Patience is a virtue because it makes us better people. The definition of the word is to tolerate delay. This implies self control and forbearance as opposed to wanting what we want when we want it. How many times have we jumped the gun and found out it would have been better to tolerate delay or had self control? What did we miss out on? Did we hurt someone we love because of lack of patience? Having patience will heal the wounds and it will work itself out fine. Patience is not only a virtue but a necessity for a happy existence.

No its not about one game or patience...  To me it is a pattern of Sony milking a loyal fan base.

And it is about the fact that I have spent $3,000 on three PS3 consoles/games and the entertainment value I see returned from them.  I very much enjoyed Uncharted, MGS4, and the first Ratchet & Clank are the only three must have games on the PS3...

Killzone 2 is absolutely stunning, but at its core it is a run-of-the-mill shooter that I couldn't stand by the time I finished Chapter 1...

GT5P was shipped with the "later this year GT5 ships promise" in 2008...  Here we are in late 2009 and still waiting...

I have had two of my PS3's die twice... Once was on warranty, the others I paid $200 each to fix.

The pattern seems to be, announce AAA titles 4 years before they actually ship and keep the fan base thinking next year will be the year.  KZ2 and GT5 are the best examples...

Also, it is about milking fanchises...  For example, SingStar...  We now have SingStar, SingStar V2, SingStar Abba, SingStar Queen  for PS3... We have yet to see wireless mics and neither SingStar Abba or Queen do anything different other then offer more songs...  In fact, they don't even offer new trophies...  And Ratchet & Clank...  We are now seeing the same game 3 consecutive years...  And they tried milking Motorstorm by doing it two years consecutively with next to no change.   And now Buzz! is coming out again this year with probably next to nothing new...

And how about the hype of Lair?  Haze?  AAA Crap...

PSN games tend to play more like tech demos then real games...  aka Flower...

And instead of shipping GoW3 promised last year, it got moved to 2009, and now 2010, so to further milk the loyal fanbase they are re-releasing "The GoW Collection" with updated graphics...

Home was promised as the next great thing...  It has improved but really what it is trying to do is get you to buy more stuff online.

And don't even talk to me about Socom Confrontation...  How can a company release such crap?   Then, expect the community to wait while you fix it... Meanwhile at the same time they are bragging about quality not quantity and 10 year plans.  Speaking of quality lets talk about the first two years on the PSN and how I endured multi-player release after release...   You may say "it's free"...  Well, it was free and it didn't work well so I guess you get what you pay for...  I don't like companies wasting my time and the PSN for the first two years was a complete waste.

And as yet after all that I made yet another good faith consumer gesture and bought a PS3 slim...  How F---ing stupid of me...

Sony has had more then ample chance to be my primary console... The reality though is that Sony is going to have a hard time getting any money from me going forward...

See you are looking at this as Right here right now. how much time do you have in a day to game?

If your not that keen on waiting , than that's your problem. Not saying you do not have any right to gripe, but also on the same token expecting "to be on your ideal schedule" may not be realistic on every thing at once.

you may say I paid $$$ on a system that I am not happy with right now. that's fine but what is you want them to do put out rushed product than patch it later

which i already see in your rant you have already covered.

it is about patience.

you may not want to admit it . but it is pure an simple In my opinion

It seem's to me more people seem to be worried about " it must release this fall in order to beat Microsoft" why?

does it matter?

even if Sony stay's 3rd in the short term does it matter if One game does not release in the fall, the fact that Sony put the date march 2010 is not that Big of a deal In my Opinion. you talk about Sony Milking franchises?

guess what every one of the companies do it

microsoft

nintendo

sony

they all three milk the franchises..that's what a franchise is for!

Considering some said 'If GT5 comes out this holiday it will pwn the Xbox 360' so it is normal that a thread like this created;..

This is only negative for Sony.

Forza 3 will have all the freedom to get some race freaks getting a xbox 360 and will steal some potential GT5 customers.

- GT5 will sell not well in March like it would have been selling in the Holidays.

Can't wait for the 'Forza 4 VS GT5' discussions....Sigh..

Then again this is not Sony's fault.

or the xbox360 is doomed

or the Wii is doomed

or my toaster is doomed because sunbeam did not sale enough of their toaster's in a QUARTER.

It just seem's some people are in such a hurry to start a new generation when this generation has pretty much started

this is not like last generation, the machines this generation will be able to handle quite a bit more than the prev. generation over time with out the software looking dated.

at this point when GAME'S like

Crysis

uncharted

gear's of war

heavy rain

metal gear solid :4

conduit

mad world

final fantasy: 13

little big planet

have the quality that they are in game's for game console's I just do not see how some gamer's are in such a hurry to start yet another generation.

An i can See sony, microsoft, nintendo are also not in such a hurry to start a new generation.

So why are some gamer's?

So what exactly do you do in the video game industry?    If no one game is worth the whole catalog then explain why when games like Halo and Gran Turismo get released the hardware sees huge jumps in sales.   Obviously no one buys a console for just one game,  but alot of the time its one game that gets them to buy the system, then they find other games to enjoy.

BTW,  the PS2 and the PS1 were also very high end hardware for the time they were released.  So if that is your only arguement as to why I shouldnt compare this generation to past ones, then it fails.  They have had about 4 years to get this game right or add any functionality meanwhile other companies have produced multiple games in the same timeframe.

Well since you like spouting little sayings here is one for you.

"Tomorrow is promised to no one, so live each day like its your last"

Although if it was up to Polyphony Digital they may be able to delay the inevitable like everything else they have delayed.

and I think that's the point why should it matter to any gamer, as long as it's a game you could play. If you as a gamer want to play a game you should get the system that the game is on. If that means you may have to wait in order to play because of the expense or delay of a game's release that's sad and all but this is for entertainment you know, its not like life or death

stealing GT5 customer's is not stealing if the customer will never buy GT5 ever!, that's the big point will forza3 keep someone from "Ever buying GT5?"

If the gamer still buy's GT5 later its still a sale, forza 3 may have a sale sooner rather than later.

Oh come on. This was fully expected to happen. We've had rumblings of a 2010 release for months now, and here it is. You've all been prepared for the news, so suck it up and wait another 6 months (at least).

The real issue I see here is that by dropping so many titles into Q1 2010, they've now created an unhealthy sales atmosphere, especially with all of the other titles pegged for that timeframe. I guarantee at least two of the four titles are getting dropped out of Q1, and one of them is falling into next fall's lineup. Sony just isn't going to let their releases bunch up on each other like this. My best guess is that MAG and God of War 3 stay in Q1, Gran Turismo 5 moves to Q2 sometime in the summer(for EU and US only), and Heavy Rain drops to next fall.
