Forums - Sony Discussion - Could Sony steasl the show from Nintendo

This is something I've never thought of. It's interesting as Malstrom, Nintendo strategy guy, says Sony might be able to steal the show from Nintendo. The article is here. The quote I'm looking at is this.

But there is a window for Sony to go through, a window that Nintendo opened with their disastrous move to user generated content. If Sony marries their motion controller to game content (which is what Wii owners were looking for since the beginning), and if Sony embraces previous game libraries and puts them all up which supplements and fixes the dismal PS3 game library, Sony could pull this generation away from Nintendo.

Another point that if Sony could claim genres from Nintendo, they could take the new audience. All of this is easier said then done, but if Sony takes the new values seriously, then Nintendo could be in trouble. Remember, Sony was able to use their larger assets to stomp out Nintendo and Sega before. They would have to utilize that advantage once again in terms of software. Again, this sounds easy enough, but it's not.

The other factors working against Sony is that really have to change their entire strategy, not just copy motion controls. The biggest disadvatage they have is they will have trouble competing with Nintendo in terms of software. Nintendo has been able to create new kinds of software like Wii Fit, and may continue to do that with the Vitality Sensor. Sony will have to one up Nintendo in these regard and focus on new values.

Anywho, I thought I'd bring this to people's attention. I may be farfetched, but there might be some truth in it. If the Sega leak is right, then 2010 may be an awesome battle. Maybe we'll get some amazing software.

The curtain's been drawn and the performers have bowed. There is no more show to steal.

its too late

Malstorm is always spouting BS & continues to do so.....even if he said something positive about PS3 & Sony.

Nintendo has won this......if SONY did what they have done now 2 years ago, maybe.

I was hoping people would have a little more fun with this.

I don't see it as very likely, but I never thought of the possibilities before. It will be intersting to see what happens.

Dismal PS3 library?

I used to like Malstrom. I thought he was pretty insightful. Now, he's just a whining, moping, angsty blogger. We have enough of those, thanks.

Malstrom didn't have a PS2? No wonder I dislike him.

I'm a Malstrom follower to some extent. He's been pist lately with Nintendo's decisions that go against Blue Ocean and their User Generated Content. I can get behind that. But this is almost laughable, I had a smile on my face the whole time reading it..maybe that was the point?

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

so...when are we finally gonna throw this guy in with the "dont post these ppl section"

Sony RULES!!
