Forums - Sales Discussion - Nintendomination at an end?

I think due to Wii shortages, and an upcoming explosion in PS3 sales, the PS3 will either be close 2nd or slightly ahead of Wii this winter.

The Wii is more likely to be a mid year purchase. People who want to buy a PS3 would save it until the end of the year, because of pricing. With price cut, games, name, and features, those non-gamer types will pick up alot of PS3's IMO.

I think people will wait until they get their tax returns next year to buy a PS3. The Wii is definitely something people will be buying around Christmas IMO.

Not to mention that the 360 is perfectly positioned to cream the PS3 this Christmas too...

I dont know about the 360 selling that well. It has games, better games, but nothing that little kids are waiting for christmas to get. Mass Effect will sell well, but as far as drawing new customers to the stores, I dont see it happening.

Alot of people are equating good shooters with having a good game lineup. Mid year the Xbox is strong, but I think in the end it will sell less consoles this December than it did last December. Hardcore gamers = older = buy the console when they want to.
We will see however, I think it will be more about advertisement than anything, since most of the REALLY good games this winter are multiplatform. (COD4,Assassins Creed,Guitar Hero III, Rock Band.)

BTW, PS3 - 64,000
360- 37,000

I can see the PS3 slowing down somewhat next week, but what will bring the Xbox360 back up?

well here in the UK "little kids" of 12-16 will certainly be wanting a 360 for shooters etc in the same way they wanted a PS2 for GTA....the same will happen in USA.

this christmas;
America 360 = 2XPS3
Eu 360 almost = PS3 (360 more than double PS3 in UK but the smaller areas will be mostly PS3)
Japan PS3 = 4X 360

due to low sales of 360 in Japan though, PS3 being 4X it is not enough to overcome 360s US dominance....overall 360 sells a couple of 100k more than PS3.
the christmas after could be better for PS3, i think PS3 should sell more then 360 then, but i am not estimating regional numbers so early on.

I think its funny that the Wii is still selling out and still the best selling console consistantly yet Devs and some consumers still think it'll just die out....I really dont understand their reasoning.

Fear, they fear a nintendo dominated market, because they know they cannot compete

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Which will end first? Nintendomination or the HD-DVD thread?

^^^^ This one.

As long as the DS exists, there will be no end in sight to Nintendomination.
