Perhaps S-E should start to think to change the platform? The Wii doesn't sell that great lately, and it's kind of strange having FFXIII on the PS3 and DQX on the Wii, when they technically share there fanbase.

Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy do not share their fanbase.

I was wondering about that as well. when did DQ and FF share the same fanbase?

Since when do they do not?

Yeah, lots of DQ fans in the west play Final Fantasy and vice versa.

Dragon Quest X won't sell bad on the Wii at all, but by putting FF and DQ on different consoles will hurt the sales of both games. I believe DQ sales will be hurt in the west (again, not bad!) and FF sales in Japan.

This. Let's not forget what was the huge boost of sales for DQ8. (the FFXII demo included)

I disagree. If FF fans play DQ games in the west, why do DQ games always sell like shit outside Japan while FF games always sell a shitload outside Japan? Even in Japan, I don't think they have that many overlapping fans.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

It has to do with most of the titles never making it, and they do not get the attention from press or Square that main FFs do.

Besides, they're not as good.

Very nice, hopefully they realize now that the PS3 is the JRPG king in Japan.

All PlayStation consoles will always be the JRPG kings.

FF and DQ used to be rivals for RPG leader in Japan. They both have strong fan base on their side.

A lot of DQ fans only play DQ but not any other RPG.

Exactly, portables are different. Which would mean the DS and PS3 are way far off, correct? Which would mean the Wii and PS3 and closer, and if they're close, that would mean DQ X would sell a lot on the Wii. That's your logic, isn't it?Have you taken a look at Marvelous' sales on the PS2 or DS? Not much better.

Perhaps you don't know, but one of the reason that DQIX is selling that well is because you can only have one save-file, and the hardcore fanbase is actually getting a second copy. But that wasn't my point, my point is that games that do well on portables don't necessary do well on home consoles and vice-versa. Tetris for example.

Odin sphere did only sell twice as much as Muramasa in Japan , and Arc Rise of Fantasia did great for a comercial JRPG! Happy?

No MH has sold 800-900k on the PS2. Are you doing your research? Clearly you're not.

This seems like a whole troll post.

Hello! I was comparing it to the sales of the PS2 MGS games! xDDDDD

Nazna was acting proud because MHIII had outsold a franchise which has never reached the million in Japan

You know what would be sad? if the PS3 fanboy's would say that FFXIII was a succes because it outsold FFIII [NES] or because it outsold MHIII. MH is now much bigger than 5 years ago you know.

And please calm down, you are acting like I killed your brother.

It has to do with most of the titles never making it, and they do not get the attention from press or Square that main FFs do.

Besides, they're not as good.

The reason of that is really simple:

Enix didn't took all the games outside Japan until they merged with Square (and the ones that did get outside Japan were known as "Dragon Warrior", i got lucky that i got the J-games), then Square Enix did a better campaign to promote DQ in the West, even including the FF12 demo in DQ8... Now it's up to Nintendo to do the other part for DQ9 and DQ10 (like they promised)

And the reason FF is so popular in the West is because of their sponsors: Sony. When Square left Nintendo (and that stayed until Iwata stepped in), Sony seized that moment to take the Final Fantasy franchise, so they did a business plan that included a strong marketing campaing and publishing FF7 in the West, anyone that lived that era remembers the really agressive campaing Sony did for FF7... Since then all FF main games sell a lot while DQ had to wait until the merger to be known outside Japan...

of course not, DQ has a fanbase of 3 million+ which will buy it on whatever it come's out (except an western console)

You're just acting like DQ X wouldn't sell on the Wii. That's 100% BS and you know it. That's just what I'm arguing about. It's not moving anywhere as much as some people want it to.

DQX would sell a couple of million if it was released exclusively on the 360. That's not the point, the point is it won't sell as well as DQIX, probably not as well as VII or VIII either if it stays Wii exclusively. To maximize sales, SE needs to put it on DS or put it on another platform day and date with the Wii version, simple as that. The most likely candidate for the latter would be the PSP.

You're right for a change, I don't care and no I don't think it'll outsell VIII.

As far as moving goes, Sony had a hand on FFXIII and MH3, that doesn't mean those games didn't get moved around. Trust me, if SE wants to move it to the DS or do a PSP/Wii release (and they should), they will. Only possible way would be for Nintendo to get a couple of trucks full of money to SE office, but knowing Nintendo, I doubt they would do that.
