Forums - Sales Discussion - PS3 Slim Week 3 predictions, another week of PS3>Wii? 250K +?

I'm going to say the PS3 will be around 215k.

The Japanese market will still hold up strong, but every region will likely see a drop. ToV isn't a big enough game to main week 2 japanese ps3 sales.

Around the Network

Japan: 42,000 (because of TOV, people who did not buy it on the 360)
Europe: 118,000
States: 87,000
Total World wide: 247,000

roughly a 16% drop from week two is my prediction.

I am going to say 215k.

Vesperia Launch will prevent the PS3 from dropping too far in Japan.

Others will be about 100k. America about 80k. Japan about 35k.

My predictions for last week:

I sold 3 ps3s myself at work today. We've sold 45 this past week. On a normal week pre-price cut we'd sell under three a WEEK, often just one and sometimes none at all.

I know this is purely anecdotal, and my store is likely hardly representative of the entire nation, but I have the feeling that the ps3 still performed very well this past week.

For NA, I'm feeling 80-100k. I have even less data to base estimates for the other territories on, but I'm thinking 150-200k for EU, and 40-60k for JP. That means 270-360k for this past week. I'm almost sure it will top 300k.

I was a bit low on NA, a bit high on Europe, and just right on Japan. Of course, I gave a pretty wide spread.

For this past week, sales slowed pretty heavily at my store, so I'm thinking NA will drop to 70-85k. Seeing as the Slim hasn't been out for as long in Europe, I predict a drop similar to the NA drop going into the week ending 9/12. I'm thinking 100-130k. For Japan, Vesperia should keep sales afloat to a degree, but I think there will be at least some drop off (unless a significant number of 360 owners buy a Slim for the rerelease). Probably around 35-45k.

Overall, 200-250k.

250k+ is definitely.
On 2nd week PS3 dropped only by 44%, so it`s pretty much safe to say, that next week drop off will be even smaller, 15-20%, which is around 250k+.
Sales must stabilize, 250-300k on average for the rest of year look very realistic.

it will be definatly above 200k and will definatly outsell rhe Wii...250k next week is really risky...TOV release in Japan will be big but if its a little system seller?all we can do is wait!
its a real great month for the PS...1 mill in this month easily...next month should be great too with Fifa (EU sales) Demon Souls (US) and Tekken will give the PS also a great boost!

And in December we will see another mill in 1 month from the PS with FF XIII and GT5 WW!

@makingmusic

by slowed do you mean momentum is going?

In your opinion will the price cut make sure it stays at a higher level than xbox 360? & to what it was before?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

It's still outselling the 360 easily.

Look at it this way. The price cut and remodel was a major move, and it allowed the ps3 to reverse everything MS had gained over a nine month period in only two weeks. The advantage the 360 maintained all year was wiped out and then some. That will continue until MS makes their move, with either a price cut next Fall or Natal bundles.

The ps3 should outsell the 360 handedly this holiday.

Well I predicted 400k so I overestimated for this week.

Well I'll guess it goes down about 15-20% to the 245-260k range

I think bigger question should be where we think PS3 sales will stabilize...
