Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS3 not selling out would be good - Reeves

First of all, I meant if they can't sell out in a weekend but since some stores started selling them early the have a few more days to sell out but if it isn't sold by the end of this weekend that would start a bad trend in Europe, and Sony needs sales to be great in Europe. And no HappySqurriel not selling out isn't a bad thing but because of the way the PS3 competitors are selling not selling out would be a bad, and it makes it worse because it's their launch.

What's odd to me is that Sony's able to build a million+ systems for a single month, yet Nintendo is hardly building many more systems than that per month. You would think the Wii would be significantly easier to produce in larger quantities. 1st) Sony is a bigger company 2nd) They've delayed the EU launch 5 months... doesn't this tell you something? 3rd) Nintendo is also busy manufacturing DS's, Sony isn't THAT busy with the PSP's cause they're never sold out.
I'd say Nintendo is just an inferior manufacturer period. They are not a manufacturing company, they're a gaming company. Thus why they are not able to build enough consoles to meet demand, even though the technology is cheaper and older and should be available to produce easily. If you really want to get down to it, what Sony did with manufacturing as many consoles as quickly as they have is very impressive. They did something that Microsoft couldn't, and with more advanced and more expensive technology. Microsoft wasn't even able to send more than 200k a month to the US until May about 6 months after launch, Sony did more than that in the second month of launch. You don't need to even bring sales into this if you want to discuss them as manufacturers.

I was about to say the same thing. There are confirmed reports from representatives of retail chains in Europe saying they are selling out or have sold out of pre-orders.

Now you get a BR movie, and a game for 5999 SEK in some stores. Either Sony is overshipping or the want to creat fortress sony in europe. Becuase al advertisment so far is about "cheap" bundles. This must be specific for sweden. here in switzerland, i haven't seen bundles as far as i remember, and the price is 899 CHF everywhere.
ok, the big stores is pushing PS3 like hell here in Sweden. But the xbox360 has gotten the same thing like one extra controller and Gears for the usual premium price. Mayby the just want to win the HD custumor. Funny thing is that I didn't see this bundles for Wii. But of course the Wii launch was really bad in terms of numbers here in Sweden.

So they're an inferior company because they're not able to provide more than 1,000,000 units per month and Sony is a great company because they can build up a stock pile when they are only selling 250,000 units per month ... Nice

i was implying that he sounded like success is measured by how you meet demand. so PS3 oversuplying means they had better success than the Wii (even though 3 times as many Wiis have been sold aproxiamatly) just because nintendo cant suply Wiis to everyone in the country it seems like in the first few months after launch. i know it doesnt make sense, thats why i made the comment.

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.
