i was just throwing out a hypothetical 800,000 because it's a ton of systems sold yet not enough to sell out the supply. never claimed it as fact.
What's odd to me is that Sony's able to build a million+ systems for a single month, yet Nintendo is hardly building many more systems than that per month. You would think the Wii would be significantly easier to produce in larger quantities.
1st) Sony is a bigger company
2nd) They've delayed the EU launch 5 months... doesn't this tell you something?
3rd) Nintendo is also busy manufacturing DS's, Sony isn't THAT busy with the PSP's cause they're never sold out.
I'd say Nintendo is just an inferior manufacturer period. They are not a manufacturing company, they're a gaming company. Thus why they are not able to build enough consoles to meet demand, even though the technology is cheaper and older and should be available to produce easily.
If you really want to get down to it, what Sony did with manufacturing as many consoles as quickly as they have is very impressive. They did something that Microsoft couldn't, and with more advanced and more expensive technology.
Microsoft wasn't even able to send more than 200k a month to the US until May about 6 months after launch, Sony did more than that in the second month of launch.
You don't need to even bring sales into this if you want to discuss them as manufacturers.
