Holy crap what a terrible list.

  • Super Smash Bros Brawl-- Yeah, it was heavily hyped but it was also one of the most complete games ever.
  • Little Big Planet-- Wait, the hype the game got was underserving and it was over hyped?  (edit: Whoops, undeserving, I still can't read today.  Meh, hype is the only reason that game sold as well as it did (which is not a bad thing).  Sometimes a game needs that hype)
  • Gears of War 2-- I don't think the author gets it's ok to hype a good game.  Also, lol at thinking the story was good while the gameplay was the thing you should ignore.
  • Resistance 2: Fall of Man-- Just goes to show how much research the author did.
  • Halo 3-- Agreed.

Also, GTAIV, Spore, blah, blah, blah.  Somebody is just fishing for website hits.

Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 (and Gears 1) I certainly agree, of the PS3/360 games I think number 1 and 2. Number 3 would probably be Grand Theft Auto 4 for me, despite I still think it's a top game. I think Mass Effect is also overhyped.

Resistance 2 I believe didn't receive much hype like the other titles. I think it's a good FPS, better than most and different enough. LittleBigPlanet, I don't agree with at all, IMO it's an amazing game to play with friends (male and female).



Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

Lol at Resistance 2: Fall of Man, and Resistance: Fall of Man 2. Why do people get so badly mixed up with that game? He didn't say "Halo Combat Evolved 3", did he?

Anyway, any over-hyped list without GTA4 and with LBP fails, IMO.

Resistance 2 is all the game is called. No fall of man.

The only game on your list I agree with is Gears 2. I loved it, don't get me wrong. But I still enjoy the first one more and I feel as if the second one could have done ALOT more. I'm a sucker for Gears though so I can't even bitch.

Top 5 over hyped in my opinion:

1. Killzone 2
2. GTA 4
3. Crysis
4. Lair
5. Halo 3

Galaxy, Killzone(instead of R2), and GTA belong there.



Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

You are right with your first part, but I do see Resistance 2 did not live up to its hype. I mean, we talked about R2 could do Gears of War 2 numbers, maybe even pass that. but that is just saleswise, quality seemed to be a nice 8.5 / 10 game.

But how can you say Halo 3 was overhyped?

It is heading toward 11 million (!!!), it received a 94 on metacritic, it is still the most played online console game ever? I think it did what it was supposed to.

GTA IV has great sales and great critics, too. But it failed to amaze players or fans of the franchise.

All the games you mentioned were hyped, but most of them delivered.

 

Errr......read my post again, I said NOTHING of the sort.

And I saw these posts in September 08 or something. People predicting R2 could do this.
