Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bobby Kotick wants to "Take all the fun out of making video games"

He showed the audience a clip of Call of Duty: World at War, saying his friends in the movie industry all react by pointing out how unreal the mouth movement looks. The executive said game makers just haven't reached a point yet where the mouth movement and facial animation of game characters is good enough to establish a compelling emotional attachment from the player.

To remedy that, Kotick noted a realtime rendering and mouth movement technology Activision has been working on. He showed a clip of the technology, saying it could could represent nothing less than a transformation of the medium.

Wow...

This has officially pushed me over the edge into not buying MW2 or any other Activision products.

I think he doesn't know the difference between a video game company and a sweatshop.

Haha, yeah. That's what really stuck out to me, surprised you're the first to quote.

I mean, seriously? Get away from Blizzard, Kotick guy.

Hmm, this makes feel bad for buying MW2 when it comes out.

"You have studio heads who five years ago didn't know the difference between a balance sheet and a bed sheet who are now arguing allocations in our CFO's office pretty regularly," Kotick said.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

Wow, a real double whammy there. Not only is he investing big into highly advanced tech (a risky endeavor), he's also draining the company of creativity. I foresee bad times ahead for Activision. They're going to end up with unoriginal games that undermine the strength of the brand names they've built up and have nothing to show for the massive investment into them.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

I don't really buy Activision games and I'm glad I don't. I wouldn't want to support this guys crack addiction, because he's clearly on crack.

More corporate greed and insanity...

I don't think I'll be buying new Activision games anytime soon (maybe used).
