Its a lot like a first person perspective Xbox dashboard. Xbox may benefit, but not as much if Sony does it correctly. Sony needs an XBL, the PStore is terrible. If Home is their new live and dash, then the've got a system seller. |
Lol, Home won't help them sell systems. That's like saying the Miis helped sell Wiis. |
I think that it's more like saying that VC helped sell Wii's[Its funny how much people will pay for super mario brothers]. Or XBL sells 360's. Or Myspace sells PC's[It really does!].
My opinion is that if Home succeeds in uniting the PS3 crowd in a myspace type way. The whole trophy room concept, if done well could steal some thunder from Gamerpoints. And while I'm not sure acheivements help to sell consoles, they do help to sell games. I've bought/tried games that I otherwise would've ignored because of acheivements.
Home can advertise games much like XBL, but with more of a second life style. Sony has Movie studios which could benefit from a movie theater. Being that Sony want's to release it for free implies to me that it will be more of a 3d online profile as opposed to a game. And one other thing to remember is that while Home might not sell many systems at $400, it may help sell more consoles at $250. My opinion is that this a concept that will appeal to casual gamers, or new entries to the gaming market.
