Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft creating Home rival?

im sorry but that is following in one's footsteps if you copy their ideas and use them in your own design. Hopefully Sony has enough copyrights on Home to sue the crap out of Microsoft if this is real. Microsoft really deserves it after making a faulty console and trying to standardize pirating software.

Standardizing pirating software? What on earth are you talking about?

I expect more from a mod than this hate drivel.

I read the article it seems more likely to me that MS has an mmo planed for next year rather than a xbox live overhaul. All the conclusions are based on a single statement.

As to ssj12.
"Hopefully Sony has enough copyrights on Home to sue the crap out of Microsoft if this is real. Microsoft really deserves it after making a faulty console and trying to standardize pirating software."

True colors?

I agree

Also, Home is hardly an original idea, so I dont see how they could amass patents related to its design.

Sony could benefit from home if it becomes their dashboard. A full featured world with arcades, movies, table games and home spaces. Its a lot like a first person perspective Xbox dashboard.
Xbox may benefit, but not as much if Sony does it correctly. Sony needs an XBL, the PStore is terrible. If Home is their new live and dash, then the've got a system seller.

Lol, Home won't help them sell systems. That's like saying the Miis helped sell Wiis.

I think that it's more like saying that VC helped sell Wii's[Its funny how much people will pay for super mario brothers].  Or XBL sells 360's.  Or Myspace sells PC's[It really does!].

My opinion is that if Home succeeds in uniting the PS3 crowd in a myspace type way.  The whole trophy room concept, if done well could steal some thunder from Gamerpoints.  And while I'm not sure acheivements help to sell consoles, they do help to sell games.  I've bought/tried games that I otherwise would've ignored because of acheivements.

Home can advertise games much like XBL, but with more of a second life style.   Sony has Movie studios which could benefit from a movie theater.  Being that Sony want's to release it for free implies to me that it will be more of a 3d online profile as opposed to a game.  And one other thing to remember is that while Home might not sell many systems at $400, it may help sell more consoles at $250.  My opinion is that this a concept that will appeal to casual gamers, or new entries to the gaming market.

MICROSOFT..must...control...myself...

Oh well it's not the first time they do something just like SONY so they can get SONY's fans.

I hope MS goes ahead with this.

Hopefully, this will teach Sony for the many times they have copied.

Consoles I Own: NES, SNES, N64, GC, GBA, DS, X360, Wii

I don't get how people can take these quotes and claim anything like Home is happening here. Yes there was a Microsoft guy on stage at a virtual worlds conference. But in the second quote they say that both Sony and Microsoft are going in different directions. Also they say they don't want to make Live into a Game itself that leads into other games like Home.

Maybe it has nothing to do with Live or Home. Maybe M$ just secured some exclusive MMO's for 360, like WOW or Second Life or something. Or maybe its a new game their making for 360 or PC.

I just think that there isn't near enough info to say "Microsoft E&D GM Daniel Schiappa has hinted that a PlayStation Home-like virtual world will be coming to Xbox 360 within the next year."

I guess we'll know next year though.

Currently Playing:

Xbox 360 - Rock Band, NHL 08, Skate, Halo 3, Mass Effect

Wii - Mario Galaxy

I don't really see why MS would make anything like Home when Home is free....it's not like they're going to make much money off it.
