"Remarks by Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft Corporation"

otherwise its just common knowledge that the board of directors typically make financial desisions. The CEO/Management run the company.
Still doesn't matter, Bill Gates made Microsoft and its his. Again Bill Gates cannot be stopped...he just can't be stopped.

31 million PS3's by end of this year
So MS is copying what Sony copied from them? How do you copy what someone copied from you? I mean, this is far from official but I thought that MS doubted home would have an impact and also, XBL is already far and above any online service out there. How could they be thinking about doing something they already have done good. If home is a success, no doubt there will be allusions to it on all of the consoles but I doubt they're in production of it yet.
Home is not an original Sony concept in the first place. First off its most likely a second life clone. Not that the concept originated there necessarily. Hell I remember a similar concept on the Game Cube this sickeningly cut game called Animal Crossing. The whole plot of that game was socializing with cute critters, and decorating a house. I will also say this Home seems to clone many of the engines in other Sony games. So yeah really original.
Microsoft has tried repeatedly to get Second Life on to their console. They have talked about it often enough. Further more they have spent money on virtual world development in the past. Even though those attempts were eventually abandoned or sold off. So to assume that Microsoft is doing something similar to Home, because of what Sony is doing is asinine. They are doing it, because they have been doing it all along in the first place.
The genre of shoot the shit worlds is popular right now. Here is hoping that Microsoft adds some combat or competition to their virtual world. Perhaps let us run over each other with lawnmowers. You know keep that edge.
Sony could benefit from home if it becomes their dashboard. A full featured world with arcades, movies, table games and home spaces. Its a lot like a first person perspective Xbox dashboard.
Xbox may benefit, but not as much if Sony does it correctly. Sony needs an XBL, the PStore is terrible. If Home is their new live and dash, then the've got a system seller.
^^^^ I agree that home won't sell systems but you can't compare Mii's which have limited functionality beside just standing there and don't do anything over your avatars at home which are fully functional talk to other people, walk places etc.
