Batman came out last week & sold like 500K
so OBVIOUSLY it will seem like there is a "less" increase in SW

Because most people spent 300 euros or dollars on a consol that they don't have a lot of money left to buy software
Used game purchases? not that hard to figure out.

The reason the Slim didn't move software is simple: most of the first week's sales were from previous PS3 owners trading up to the latest-and-greatest. They already have the games they want, and so they didn't need to buy more.
This is not to say that the entire boost is from such trade-ups: the software sales did indeed go up about 20% over the usual growth curve, and that likely reflects the new customers.
Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

Demotruk said: The used games argument doesn't work unless there's some special reason to buy used games this week. Used and new games would be expected to rise proportionately to eachother with the increase in hardware sales. |
Yes and no. Maybe if you're a core gamer strapped for cash that was waiting for the drop in price and you just forked $300 for your PS3 - that is maybe your second or third console - you'll look into the used games shelf to build a quick, cheap back library at the cost of a couple of new games.
1. Week before Slim comes out : I doubt the price cut will make a difference, there is no demand.
2. Announcement 76k sold in NA: You see, with most retailers selling it, it only outsold 360 by 1000.
3. Article predict over 100k in JAPAN: Crazy, that can never happen, 60k most it can sell, silly ps3fanboys.
4. Oh, boy 1000% increase in UK: Well, that's nothing, as you can see that's 3 months of pent up demand, and it's not really 1000?% if you compare it to other weeks.
5. ioi announce over 500k sold for week: Well, that was expected, let's wait for next week.
6. ioi announce 144k in NA : Well, that was expected, It's the first week
7. 150k PS3 Slim sold in japan: They all exciting PS3 owners
8. 550k sold for the Week : But they didn't buy software.

hey, also, who needs to buy new games at a shop when you have so much heaven in the PSN store?
I remember, when I got my ps3, I didn't buy a game with it. I went home and DLed super stardust HD, which I still play to this day. (I'm 16th of all time in one of the modes and I'm shooting for number 1, which is getting easier by the day.)
Well, It's more than just a gaming machine. Remember there is online games to download as well, also Bluray movies.
give it some time
besides multis are starting to favor the ps3
BMAA beat 360 in NA and GH sold pretty close to the 360 in NA
an area where ps3 had a bad time in Sw compared to the 360
turnaround will take some time to notice on these chartz
