Radiohead concert in Berlin. Didn't even know it happened atm, they told us at the concert. One of the few cultural events that wasn't cancelled that day.

I was in fourth grade when the teacher turned on the tv in the middle of class and I saw the second plane hit and watched the towers fall.

I was in school, our teacher turned it on and we watched the second plane hit and the towers fall. Even though I live in the rural South, my parents wouldn't let me go anywhere and my friend's parents where equally paranoid.

I fixed it for you.

there was a hell of a lot of paranoia after that though.

At home where my mother watched the news in her bedroom when I came in.

At school. Didn't hear about it to the next day. My dad was in Cairo, he said he saw lots of people crowding around old tvs watching what he thought was some old movie and cheering.

I was in 7th grade and it happened during english class. The principle put a gag order and wouldn't allow anyone to use a phone/watch tv/ hear a radio.

luckily for me, i always carried a portable pocket sized radio and heard it all.

anti american sentiment is quite pervasive all over the world...it doesnt help if your in a country thats been pushed around by the US, militarily and politically (even if the USs repeated invasion attempts all failed ;) ) . a child can pick up all sorts of things...especially if there is common dislike for a group or place. the most harmful ideas usually come from schools, imo. after the invasion of afghanistan i had a science teacher, who instead of teaching class...lectured us on why the invasion was solely about oil. there were also a fair amount of muslims living in the area...who liked to spout extremist hate likely picked up from their parents about the US and jews. and there was nothing wrong with the united states of arrogant oppressive assholes and their jewish overlords getting their own black eye for once. i even had some neo nazi pals growing up.

these hateful views are not a part of me and have not been for a while.

Sleeping - it was 6 something here.

I was asleep.

My mom woke me up and i turned on the TV.

My first thoughts were. "Wasn't this an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie?'

Really... call me a globalist but i didn't see it as that big a deal other then our anti-terrorist guys needed to step up their game. Disasters like it happen all the time.

It didn't really change our enemy's. Just brought peoples attention to it.

I'd been predicting for years before 9/11 that we would soon see suicide bombings on US soil as a fairly regular occurrence. Was always my New Years prediction actually.
