Personally I feel NPD have overtracked a little for August and we have probably undertracked - that week where Slims were available at some retailers and not others is a very tough one to track!!

That would mean PS3 sold about 100k 2 weeks in row in NA which would be crazy, or lower this week's sale.

Sony gives out shipping numbers, VGChartz tracks sales numbers. It could very well be that the Slim is simply failing to sell out, which would not be unusual by any stretch of the imagination for that system.

They aren't in this instance.  They are reporting the sales numbers that their retailers are passing on to them.  Pretty much the same as what vgchartz does.

It wouldn't even make any sense as shipped because the slims would have come in before the first of september, and they had pretty much dried up the supply of the old model.

Of course numbers are not accurate compared to real professional trackers' numbers. If you come to this site looking for the data provided here every month, aside from the almost flawlessly copy-pasted data from the japanese official sources, you won't find anything trustworthy.

PS3 Slim sales must be over tracked. I do not accept these sales. 550k PS3 sales in a week come on there is no way the sales numbers could possibly be that high.

We have people going on that the PS3 is undertracked and the 360 is over tracked. Well I argue the other side - PS3 is over tracked and the 360 is under tracked.

Well, the Japanese sales are spot on being that Famitsu has already reported that.

Chart Track has reported 1000% increase in sales in the UK and 900% increase in sales for France.

Those aren't even the big Sony countries.

It's highly likely that these numbers are true.
