Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Can the XBOX360 WIN this generation?

no.

Wii is 1st. The battle for 2nd (which is quite boring when you think about it) is the last unknown position this gen.

The PSP won't catch the DS either.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

But it might happen, at least we can think on that. Some days ago everything was looking real bad for SONY, nobody was seeing a possibility for them to reach 2 or 1 and now look at things! They might have a chance to reach the top!

That's why I think it might be possible. If people adopt NATAL, if people start to use NATAL instead of Wii......

The 360 can't come in first for the same reason the PS3 can't come in second: they just can't outsell its competitor fast enough.

Bringing out my old troll.xls, for the PS3 to catch the 360, it would take the PS3 outselling the 360 by 53,000 weekly for 3 straight years!

Unfortunately my handy little spreadsheet isn't setup to look at the 360 and Wii but considering the Wii has a good 20 million lead on the 360 as opposed to the 8 million lead the 360 has on the PS3, well, you can just guess it isn't going to happen in any reasonable amount of time.

-edit-

Note that I'm not bringing the PS3 in this to try and troll the thread, just bringing up the fact that if it's pointless to think the PS3 can come back from being behind by 8 million in a reasonable amount of time, it's certainly pointless to think the 360 can overcome the Wii's 20 million lead in a reasonable amount of time.

A lot of people just fail to see that this generation was already decided a good while ago who fit where in terms of sales.

And that's the problem...... It just saddens me to know we already know everything...... I would like to see some more moves in the positions but that just won't happen..... :(

Bah! :(

X360 needs to sell 40k over the Wii every week from now on to outsell it in 2019.

This

Even though 360 sales are increasing, they're still not outselling the Wii on a regular basis.

reduce the gap between wii and xbox 360 =maybe
xbox360>wii = hell no
if the wii stop selling now it will take 1.5 year just to close the gap

2010 prediction

Xbox 360 49m - 52
ps3-44.5 - 46m
halo reach will be the highest selling exclusive of 2010
xbox 360 will do is first million selling week in december
xbox 360 price will drop arcade - 179$  elite - 249$  and will be bundled with natal

115 or more million seller game on xbox 360

That gap things just kill me :(

Incorrect assumption. Wii owners own a Wii because it is family friendly. XB360 library is mostly NOT family friendly. It will take at least 2 years to shake off the "anti-family" aka "hardcore" image to warm up to the casuals. On top of this, casual gamers aren't driven by technology, so they will see Natal as a "copy" of the Wii controls, because they don't get the technology. In the end, the Wii crowd is happy where they are, and Natal will only provide the 360 userbase with a motion control system.

To sum it up, don't expect Natal to draw many if ANY people away from the Wii.

Good point you have there with the hardcore thing.

you did me laugh a lot. the 360 win this gen?!?
i don't think so & i even think the 360 will finish on third place behind the ps3. it's nearly impossible for micro$oft or sony to finish this gen on the first place.

all the 360 fans believe micro$oft will sell millions over millions 360 just because of natal & more price cuts and sony will do nothing. they completly forget sony will enter the motion/casual market much earlier with the magic wand (or however it will be called) where will be accompanied with great games lineup. sony will also bring further price cuts if they are needed.

but hey, don't forget the earlier release of the 360 & the +-8million gap. as we all gonna see, this gap will melt very fast over the next few weeks. it will be a hard fight for the second place & we as consumers will only benefit of this.
