Has anyone pointed out that getting all that information to display by default would take forever to load, even if you just wanted to send a message you'd need wait for even more loading too.

This isn't practical at all. If it went ahead and actually got released as an update you'd all be complaining how slow everythign is.

Actually, you would only need a tiny bit of data. for the friend list you would need an extra 20 bytes for each person over the internet, which isn't much at all. Displaying it also shouldn't be much of a problem either. Also, for trophy information you could just poll the data once every few hours and store it on the HDD, so you wouldn't need to download the extra 2KB for a large friend list on startup.

Have you seen how long it takes just to load up one persons profile currently?  Imagine doing an entire friends list at once.  Defeats the point if the info is not up to date also.

I have no idea how valid those numbers you posting are, all I know is the length of time it takes which isn't good at all.

Agree. It took almost 5 seconds to load up trophy info and avatar for one friend on my PS3, and XMB is unavialble while doing so. Now to load up all friends' trophy info and avatars at once and still be able to move XMB icons around at the same time is just not practical. I'd be quite suprised if they can actually make it happen any time soon.

id love it

Damn that looks reallllly good,

Problem is the loading and syncing.

And on top of that, imagine doing it within a game where you already have limited resources.

Look at the design for the PSP2 made by an amateur

And the actual PSP go

I think sony cares about what's designed by amateurs

That's an entire iteration , the Go is more of a spin off.

this would be awesome if :

1. Sony were to actually make this happen, or something similar ( but won't because of copyright issues)
2. Wouldn't crash when opening it up in game (or take too long to load).

I wonder if there could be some of the xmb installed as cache to make it load faster during the game.

I hate to say it (or do I?) but that mock up is very similar to another console's interface........

The 360 interface isn't similar to that.. unless you mean the squares which are somewhat different.
