well, despite both Houston and Jacksonville both losing, Denver and Atlanta both pulled through for me so I cought up to abtg by 2 games this week, however it looks like both slumsofohio and nextgreatchamp also picked up 2 games so I'll still be in 4th overall.

Playoff Predictions - These are due with week 6 picks

1) You must select 12 teams (6 from each conference) that you believe will make the playoffs.

• For each of these 12 teams that makes the playoffs you will recieve 1 point.  12 Points Possible.
• For each Wildcard Game one of your 12 teams wins you will earn 1 point.  4 Points Possible
• For each Divisional Playoff Game one of your 12 teams wins you will earn 2 points. 8 Points Possible
• For each Conference Championship one of your 12 teams wins you will earn 3 points. 6 Points Possible
• For each Superbowl one of your 12 teams wins you will earn 4 points.  4 Points Possible.

2) Additionally you will select two teams (1 from each conference) that you believe will participate in the superbowl (And they don't necessarily have to be 2 teams from your group of 12...but it would sort of make sense).

• For each Superbowl participant you correctly pick you will earn 3 points. 6 Points Possible.

This allows a total of 40 points possible from the playoff predictions.

Playoff Picks- These are due at kickoff for each playoff game

In addition to the "Playoff Predictions" you will make now early in the season we will also be continuing the weekly picks throughout the playoffs just like we have throughout the regular season.  The only difference will be that because the games will be more important and involve better matchups (we hope) they will be worth more points. Each correct playoff game pick will count for 2 points and the Superbowl will be worth 4 points if picked correctly.  Again just to be clear "Playoff Picks" will be due at the kick-off of those games, the "Playoff Predictions" are due with your Week 6 picks but can be submitted late at a slight penalty (see below).

Effect on the Competition

In total "Playoffs Picks" will be worth 24 points, and the "Playoff Predictions" will be worth 40 points.  This brings the playoffs to 64 points available.

Keeping in mind that the regular season has 256 points possible (discounting ties) this means that the entire season has 320 points possible with 20% of the possible points coming from the playoffs.  I've been crunching the numbers and this should give us a nice balance between the playoffs being impactful...without outright deciding the entire league. 

Late Playoff Prediction Submissions

Missing the playoff prediction week shouldn't cost you the season..and luckily it won't.  For each week late that your playoff submissions come in your "possible" points will be reduced by 4.  For example, at the end of the year I will tally your playoff predictions points and, if you were 1 week late with your submission, your "Cap" would be 36 instead of the 40 that everyone who submitted on time has.  If you're 2 weeks late your cap would be 32, etc....  In short the clock is ticking but there is certainly some wiggle room.

PS - I will need someone, preferably another mod, to keep a second copy of the playoff predictions until the end of the season. This serves two purposes, one is to ensure that I can't modify my selections (ie the assurance of fairness is always better than the appearance of it) and also just in case my computer crashes so that we have a spare copy (I will also be keeping a backup copy on my File Server).  Please let me know Onyx, Nordlead, etc.. if you are willing to save a file and remember where it is for a few months.

Ugh another horrid week. What we learned this week Ravens overrated ? Bengals actually good or very lucky ?! Washington likes to let winless teams get a win ? Broncos are a solid team though defense/offense balanced. Next week should be good every team that undefeated remained undefeated . Who the better purple team ? Saints or Giants ?
