Sorry to everyone else for not releasing said info, but even so, I didn't get the full picture until you guys did... And by the way, would you be willing to compromise with yourself on Week 7 for the Playoff Predictions? That way we could call it "Lucky Week Playoff Time" or something... Just a thought...

Well yeah it was meant to be a range of weeks =)
I would probably include an additional ballot starting in week 4 or so for people to make playoffs selections. I would cut off "on-time" submissions at probably week 7 or 8 and then allow late submissions at -2 potential points per week late (so you can predict in week 14 if you like but at a -12 or -14 point disadvantage).

Just to consolidate the existing idea for playoff predictions:

As for how it will be scored, I'm leaning towards a prediction bracket. Each team you predict to make the playoffs would be worth 1 just for making the playoffs. Then you would get an additional point for every game they win in the playoffs. In the meantime there would still be prediction weeks going on for the playoffs as well so you can choose from the teams actually playing. So for each conference you would pick 6 playoff teams for 12 teams total. There would be a maximum of 25 points available for correctly picking all of the playoff teams (4 from the Wildcard Week Losers, 8 from Divisional Playoff Week Losers, 6 from Conference Championship Losers, 3 from SuperBowl Loser, and 4 from the SuperBowl Winner). Basically you can look at this as everyone starting with 25 points and losing 1 point if a team they didn't select makes the playoffs. Then for each week that team they didn't select advances they lose another point. This combined with the normal weekly predictions during the playoffs and there is a ton of room for people to make comebacks or even for someone to run away with the competition.

I think people are getting the Monday Night Football points confused with their actual ranking. the MNF Total Points (in the last column) is the combined score you submitted for the Monday Night game (Buf vs NE)
Hey sqrl for monday night do we need to give what score each team will get or can we just give you a winner and then give total points.
I think week 8 is too late for the Playoff predictions. By then NE could be 8-0 and a virtual lock. Week 6 is more reasonable, but still fairly late. Why not open entries at week 4, you get bonus points for submitting early, 6 weeks would be no penalty, and up to 8 weeks would be a penalty.
OK, I did the math: the most I can get for this year with the system Sqrl suggested is 276 points, with 278 being a perfect season. What a tall order for me...

Looks like gonna be a lot of ties ....Who thought 49ers would win ? I guess the new coach really did the job solid defense . Brees with 6TD killed my ff team too bastard lions can't count on them for anything ! How bout them cheeseheads :) ?!

either way works - just putting the predicted score for each team is basically the same as picking a winner and giving a total points scored value (since 1 score should be higher than the other I know which team you are predicting to win). But since most people think about what each team will score and then add it together I made seperate scores the default for the ballot to save them the extra step.
