Forums - Nintendo Discussion - MP Trilogy wont play in my Wii

so I got MP Trilogy and sat down to play it on sunday and it wont play in my Wii.   As I got my wii at Launch (I was one of those sado's that queued at midnight)  I assumed it's because it's on a dual layered disk like SSBB (I didn't buy that game so this is the first dual layerd disk to go into my Wii) and I phoned Nintendo Customer Service Centre.

They said to me that MP Trilogy is on a dual layered disk but this is apparantly a different type to SSBB and it should work on any Wii, they did confirm that even though this is all good in theory - they have also had droves of complaints about the same thing.

Gotta say it's the first dealings i've had with Nintendo Customer Service and i'm really impressed, they said originally it's gonna cost £27.00 as it's out of warranty but with that £27.00, not only do I get it repaired but I also get a new 12 month warrantybut when I came to pay at the end of the call he asked me how long i've had it.  When I replied I got it at launch he then said I could get it repaired for free.

Good to know Nintendo still know how to look after their fanboys - here's hoping I get it back soon as i also only started Cursed Mountain last night and GH5 is just around the corner.

yeah..XbotS may shout that MS is great because they release RRoDs

but...we all know it took them years before they decided to chip in...
LOL

and yeah...

Nintendo is known for being THE BEST in customer support

Yeah Nintendo does know how to do very nice customer support. I suppose its easier for them because they have fewer breakdowns to deal with.

MP Trilogy wont play in my Wii
Yes, it happened to me
One year out of warranty
They were cool enough to fix it for free
 (replaced the disc drive)

they replaced the disk drive? thats interesting cos recently my disk drive is getting fairly clunky - I sssumed it would be a laser problem but that kinda makes more sense.

How long was your Wii gone for?

I 've had them cleaned mine twice, the first time actually, they even sent me a brand new wii, at no extra cost. I am in Greece which means that Nintendo's good service is implemented on a global basis.

Dust and smoke are the main factors that contribute to the laser's inability to read properly dual layered Wii DVD's.

Sorry for the stupid question: if I buy a new Wii, will I be able to play dual layered disks? O i will need to send them to fix the problem although the Wii is new?

If you buy a new wii it'll be fine. Old wiis are fine too. The problem arises if your house gets a lot of dust or if you are a smoker.
