Forums - General Discussion - Are all girls bisexual?

Not all, just like not all men are bisexual.

The social stigma towards bisexuality and lesbianism for women isn't as severe as the stigma towards male homosexuality and bisexuality. At least in my experience and in the media's portrayal of it.

I think its kinda like a sliding scale, all people fit on it somewhere, some people are just closer to the middle
. Maybe more women are bisexual then men but I really have no data to prove that.

this is what i think.

i've never kissed a girl, but there are girls i see and think "wow she's beautiful". but that could be envy more than anything

The scale you guys are talking about is the Kinsey scale. Kinsey didn't theorize that all people were bisexual to a degree, but rather that many bisexual people were on a scale; some leaning more towards homosexuality and others leaning towards hetero sexuality.

Kinsey was also the guy who brought about the 1 in 10 people are gay theory; but was thought to have been incorrect because his test subjects were largely prisoners. This was one of many of his findings that were questioned; including the large number of people who masturbate (90% male and 40-70% female). Actually studies have found that Kinsey was fairly close to the mark; for people who masturbate, he actually low-balled it. The numbers other studies come up with today are much higher than Kinsey's; of course society could have changed, it used to be believed that tugging the general led to depleted sexual energies which caused impotence.

Alfred Kinsey, an interesting figure. There's a good movie about his life starring Liam Neeson.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

thats not the scale im talking about. i may be wrong, but i dont think farmland was talking about that 1 either cos he said "i think...". i've never heard of that Kinsey guy or his scale, so bear in mind that just cos that guy had a scale, it isnt automatically the one we're talking about

the way i see it, the terms "homosexuality", "heterosexuality", "bisexuality" etc are inappropriate, because sexuality isnt really a tick-box thing. sexuality is all there is. using terms like that, imo, kinda implies rules that, were those terms not to have ever existed, wouldn't matter. sex is sex, attraction is attraction. :D

sorry for the long post, im just trying to explain what i think about it, so you can see where my reasoning comes from inside my own brain.

good point - terms like Heterosexual, etc. are coined from attempts and views based on clear definitions (which makes sense from a classification point of view). But in reality anything to do with sexuality and sexual urges tends to be much more complex rather than clear cut.

And of course social context throws a huge overlay on people's own basic makeup and tendencies.

I have to say though, the old 'all women are Bi' always raises a smile for me, because 99% of the time it'll be a bloke bringing it up or 'interested' in such a possibility.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

The Kinsey scale is awesome. It's not right, but it's a better way of thinking about it than the traditional split.

It's possible to be attracted but not want to have sex, or to not want to experience sex at all, or to be attracted to more than one person. If you can think of an obscure set of sexual preferences, someone out there has them.
