the sales are incredibly bad, and honestly the Wii sales are a bit better, but are also very dissapointing. Japan is really favoring handhelds right now

The sales aren't good but this doesn't mean that developers lost a lot of money on it. Lots of games on the list (Resistance, Motorstorm, NFS: Carbon, Formula One, CoD 3, Elder Scrolls, Virtua Tennis 3, Rainbow Six, NBA 07, Fight Night Round 3) aren't targeted in Japanese market - they made more money in Western markets, and how they do in Japanese doesn't affect their level of success much. This doesn't excally mean that games I listed made profit but Japan sales have little to do with that.
The second group are games which sell (or are supossed to sell) comparable in Western and in Japan (Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Virtua Fighter 5, Ridge Racer 7, Folklore, Sonic, Everybody's Golf 5) and they aren't doomed becouse they didn't perform great in Japan (but it is an important factor).
From games left some which performed well (Gundam Musou, Mobile Suit Gundam, Armored Core or Bladstorm) or average (Genji, My Summer Holiday) and some others (like Majhong games) probably were cheap to develop.
So I don't think there are many titles (for sure less than 10) that can be poitned as a lost of money and most of them aren't really big titles. I would point out Virtua Fighter 5 (didn't sell that bad but expectations were much higher) and Sonic (but it is really bad game). There are some games which didn't sell well but I don't know them and what should be expected from them (possilby they were flops).
There arn't enough games coming out for the PS3 and Wii to keep software sales at a high level; that's why they both stink.

I think some numbers are inflated
I'm not quite sure was it the same in Japan, when PS3 launched in HongKong, Sony bundle the system with 3 games (Choose from Mobile Suit Gundam, RR7, AC4, Ninja Gaiden, Resistance).
From what i've heard, Mobile Suit Gundam, NunJa Gaiden and AC4 are pretty bad games, many people just sell it off at low price immediately.
I'm just back from game shop, a new AC4 is selling at (approx) $12.5 US dollars
