Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony has the strongest number of titles for relese this year...why?

ranzchic said: At this stage of the game, what matters the most is how many system sellers you have, not actual raw numbers of games. Wii already has one. PS3, zero.
hmm actualy Wii has two: Zelda and Wii Sport.

Around the Network

People are STILL failing to realize that all these games coming out in 2007 were announced before the consoles launched. There weren't very many Wii supporters, so 2007 is pretty scarce for the Wii. In the past few months, TONS of new support is coming to the Wii, so at E3 or other conventions this year, we will see many more games announced for late 2007 or 2008. The PS3 rode on the pre-launch hype, and now that sales have been mediocre compared to the Wii, we're seeing not as much of an increase in support.

Kwaad said: You are my HERO for counting those. Interesting seeing the Wii 49 games below PS3 right now, becaue the Wii has around 30-40% more games than PS3 right now... End of 2007 it will be PS3 has 20-30% more games... kinda interesting numbers there. (I am in no way talking about sales quality, or even exclusives)
You should know better than to twist things like that. "kinda interesting numbers there"? Are you trying to imply that suddenly the PS3 will have more games than the Wii at the end of 2007? This is no big news. Most games in 2007 were being made before launch, and nobody knew the Wii would do so well compared to the PS3. You'll see a big increase in Wii games in late 2007/2008.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Well, a significant majority of game announcements so far this year have been for the Wii as well. :) I can't wait 'till next month for Super Paper Mario. Not a real console seller (unless Nintendo puts out some advertisements for it) but I still look forward to both playing it and watching how sales with it and the Wii go. :)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

As has already been said the main reason was few expected the Wii to be the smash success it turned out to be and also corporations tend to be cautious and continue doing things they way they’ve been doing them (i.e. developing mainly for Playstations). I wonder though how many of those already announced and started PS3 games will turn out to be rushed and short changed given the PS3’s poor market share. Sort of the reverse of the terrible Wii-ports craze we’re seeing right now.
