Forums - Gaming Discussion - What's your comfort gaming? Your "videogaming for the soul"?

I currently have the mother of all colds. The fever, the aching (feels like my teeth are going to crack), congestion, headache, the works. So I'm home from work, and I find whenever this happens I always turn to the same type of game: RPGs.

Last time I got sick like this I spent several days on the couch playing Final Fantasy XII, the year before that I played through Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. Now I'm beating FFVII which I bought on PSN, but only got to the second disc before I got sidetracked. I've beaten the game before back in the day of course, but when I'm sick all I want is a blanket, some hot tea and an RPG.

So when you're down and out (for any reason) what kind of game is it that you like to curl up with to make you comfortable, a little something to soothe?

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

I never get sick. My immune system is legendary. Last time I got sick was when I was 15, and that was just a runny nose.

That doesn't answer your question though...

Depends how sick I am.

Sometimes I'll put in a TV show and watch that.  Other times, I'll put in an RPG and play that.  Nothing that requires real skill or reflexes, just something fun and enjoyable that I can play while laying down.

Except for during the N64's lifetime.  I remember being "sick" an awful lot and playing Goldeneye.

Oblivion. I only have to launch it and watch the intro to immediately feel great.

Traditional JRPG
Any adventure game that gives me alot of freedom.
TV Show

Any one of these work for me.

When I had mononucleosis I played through all of Skies of Arcadia, Earthbound, Terranigma, and Xenogears.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Harvest Moon 64.

You'll feel a lot better.

How about Animal Crossing instead?  There's a game full of touching stories.

I sit and play Smash Bros when I'm sick, it's relaxing to me. RPGs work as well. But I avoid adventure games like the plague.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Harvest Moon games are my escape in those kind of moods, RPG's in general flush everything away.
