Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wii 9 times more reliable than Xbox 360, 4 times more than PS3

So, minus the issues covered by extended warranty 360s also experience more other problems than the PS3. I often hear fanboys hail the 3 year warranty, not at all highlighting it does not cover all hardware failures, nor the widely reported on disc scratching issues...

They also note, the RROD issue is bigger than they can track due to:

"Microsoft’s policy may result in an underreporting of failures by Xbox 360 owners to SquareTrade, relative to the other two consoles. Because the RROD problem is so widely known to be covered by Microsoft’s warranty, we believe that more customers bypass SquareTrade and reported failures directly to the Microsoft. In a survey of SquareTrade customers with Xbox 360s conducted by email, SquareTrade found that over half of our customers who experienced a RROD error reported their problem directly to Microsoft without contacting SquareTrade."

I think RROD is bigger than 23% of consoles, but that store only covers the consoles that were purchased there under their plan.

So technically a console you got back from microsoft repair center and got broken you wouldnt take it to that store.

A friend of mine has had to send his xbox360 8 times to microsoft because of RROD, and they were different consoles.

Also we can never know, because the consoles sent back to you are most likely repaired.

At launch many units were already dead on arrival, I believe nearly all launch units died by now judging from the people I know personally and people I talked to. Sadly Microsoft also repeatably sent out a lot of refurbished units which honestly were still broken (temporary fix), which were just waiting to fail again in course of time. When this was clear to me, I sold my RRODed 360 at a time when Mircosoft was still denying any issue of significance (like the disc scratching issue now, which a lot of people from my country had and have to endure).

Gotta give it to nintendo. They make excellent hardware.

Yes, I agree and kudos. And even more important for a kids dominated console (should be relatively sturdy).

But, also with less complex and advanced hardware there are fewer things to go wrong.

For example a simple single tasking operating system vs an advanced multi-tasking operating system.

Also the Wii is mostly an upgraded GameCube by design, so produces less heat/cooling issues and the hardware is better tested (less risky for the manufacturer).

C'mon people! Use your brains! The HD consoles have a stronger library (lets base it on MetaCritic scores) so they play more. I've racked up about a 110 hours on Oblivion a lone.

Too bad Wii is also 9 times more sucky than the 360 and PS3 :p :p :D

Well that's common knowledge. The secret is to be subtle.

Yes, a friend on my friendlist even has his PS3 on 24/7, when he's not playing he's on PlayTV or using Life with PS.

You've got a point there but personally I think that if a company takes the time to engineer powerful hardware, they should also take the time to ensure that it's reliable so I dont buy that excuse. Broken consoles are of no use to anyon.

When your ps3 has broken twice, you see things differently. As for the 360, I dont even know anyone who has one and never got an RRoD.

However, I've never heard of anyone with a broken wii.
