Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Holiday Wii's on ebay

So is anyone on this site buying and stockpiling some Wii's to sell on ebay for the holidays?  Personally I am not.  I bought a PS3 20GB at launch thinking I could turn a quick buck, but it was a real hassle.  I had two "buyers" who did not pay up.  Meanwhile, while waiting for those deadbeat bidders to commit one way or another the price of profit was going down fast, especailly for the 20 gb version.

In the end I made about $60, and was glad to finally sell the thing.  So I am not stockpiling Wii's, but I am wondering if I'll have second thoughts in about two months?

Any stockpilers out there, and if so, how much do you anticipate the Wii's to sell for on average on E-bay?

The PS3 was a bit of a shock with it stopping selling so quickly.
The Wiis 'price' over the holidays depends purely on how many the big N supplies.

I have some friends who have stock piled everything from consert tickets to consoles. And it is, as you said, quite the hassle. It's almost never worth it.
And especielly here in Sweden, a PC-country, there is loads of Wii's everywhere. So I think the supply will be enough here.

Predictions for December 31st 2008:
Wii 38,000,000
DS 84,500,000
PS3 17,000,000
PSP 41,000,000
X360 23,000,000

Frankly, I think hoarding products is despicable and I laugh whenever I see hoarders losing money.

I have 1 to sell as I am not sure if there is going to be any money in reselling Wiis this year and I never was much of a gambler.

Last year I made about £1200 profit on Wiis, my best sale being a guy that paid me £350 cash.

I can see the price must be going up again as CEX is selling preowned ones for £230 (front page) and a couple of months ago they were selling them for between £180-£200.

Also Gamestations and Games near me are selling preowned ones for the full retail price of £180, and surprisingly I am begining to see stores (woolworths, blockbusters, tesco, Game , Gamestation so far) with 'Wiis not in stock' signs.

Anyone else have any info from their local stores?

I'd love to sell one on ebay. If people are willing to buy, why stop them?
